Hello Families and Friends,
This week, I’ve invited Mr. Mota, our middle school language arts teacher, to share his reflections on being a part of the Topeka Collegiate community. His insights offer a glimpse not only into his experiences as a teacher but also into the enriching journey our middle school students enjoy every day. Through his writing, you'll get to know more about him and the incredible environment we foster here. Below is an excerpt from his reflection.

From Mr. Mota:
One thing about being a teacher here that I have always found amazing is the abundance of field trips the students get to go on, which are part of what we call our “Beyond the Book” experiences. It seems that for every grade and every subject, the school supports the teachers by making it possible (along with the help of our volunteer drivers, of course) for us to take our students wherever we think can help to enrich their education and make it both more fun and fulfilling. I remember that during my three years of middle school, I went on a total of two field trips, and there was a third (the Grade 8 trip to Boston) that I wasn’t allowed to go on because of my “advanced” vocabulary and ability to deploy it at the worst possible times. In stark contrast, my 4th-grade student has been on two trips so far, and we’ve just made it past the first quarter!

Take a look at the 7th-grade students’s reflections on their Rock Springs three-day trip in the Lower School hallway next to the nurse’s office.
Speaking of taking a look, we encourage you to visit our new Fine Arts Corridor in the Center for Curiosity, Awe, and Wonder and see your student artwork on display. After a quarter of hard work, there is so much talent and creativity to admire! Parents and families are always welcome on campus, so stop by and enjoy these wonderful pieces!
Sincerely,
Lyn Rantz, Ed.D. P'19, P'21

Parent-Teacher Conferences
The faculty will be hosting parent-teacher conferences on Friday and Monday, November 1 and 4.
This year the homeroom teachers and resource teachers will have their own, individual links, so make sure you reserve time with each teacher.
Mrs. Riggs, our art teacher, will be unavailable for conferences on those days, due to a family situation. She wanted to make sure that you know she is very glad to meet with any of you. Just reach out to her via email at sriggs@topekacollegiate.org to schedule a conference at a time that works for you.
Click HERE to schedule your conference(s) today.
Deadline to schedule Conferences is October 28 at 3:30 PM.

Former Faculty and Staff Update Survey
Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle! At Topeka Collegiate, we know that the heart of our school has always been our dedicated teachers and staff who’ve left a lasting impact on countless students. When our alumni speak of their time here, they often talk about the meaningful influence of a teacher or mentor who shaped their journey.
We’d love to hear from you! Please take a moment to give us an update on what you’ve been up to since your time at Topeka Collegiate. We will share updates at an upcoming Collegiate Life. Fundraising Opportunites
As a reminder, the school has two official fundraisers each year: the Annual Fund in early fall and the Evening on Eveningside event in February. We greatly appreciate your support of these important efforts, which are essential to the school's operations.
Additionally, our eighth-grade students hold various fundraisers throughout the year to support their Seacamp capstone event. These student-led fundraisers include activities like mum sales, poinsettia sales, BINGO night, Friday Yum days, and more. While we are grateful for any support, participation in these fundraisers is entirely optional.

Thank you for Supporting the Annual Fund
We are excited to announce that, thanks to the generosity of our community, $53,063 of our $100,000 goal has been raised. We have achieved 100% participation from faculty, staff, and the Board of Trustees, and 77% from current families!
The campaign will continue through May 31, 2025, and there is still time to help us reach 100% current family participation. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference.
If you have any questions or would like to contribute, please contact Director of Development Barbara Gannaway at bgannaway@topekcollegiate.org.
