Each and every day I am truly grateful for you —our supporters, partners, and advocates. Your generosity and commitment to Accessia Health have made it possible for us to provide essential support to thousands of individuals and families facing the challenges of living with rare or chronic health conditions.

Through December 31st, our Give Back, Give Hope campaign is a chance to come together and make a tangible difference in the lives of our patients and families. Every contribution helps fund critical financial assistance, education, and other support services.

We’re excited to share the latest Advocacy developments, initiatives, and successes with you. Moving forward, you’ll find updates on our efforts to champion access to care, improve health equity, and support policies that benefit individuals with rare and chronic conditions. From working to ensure access to medications to championing equitable healthcare, our team has been hard at work fighting for those we serve.

On behalf of the entire organization, we wish you and your loved ones a peaceful holiday season. May it be filled with joy, connection, and moments of gratitude.

Thank you for being part of our community and for supporting the work we do to bring hope and relief to those who need it most.

"I have an extremely rare disease that has left me on life support, and I’m also wheelchair bound for many years now. Accessia Health has helped me so much by covering equipment and other supplies that I need so that I can live a more comfortable and enjoyable life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are truly such a blessing to so many."

Give Back Today

Advocacy Corner

Lawmakers returned to Capitol Hill on November 12, 2024, for a “lame duck "session. This session is defined as the time after an election, but before newly elected officials take office. During the lame duck, Congress can still pass laws and will decide which bills to pass, including several highly important bills. Any bills that are not passed this year will have to start over when the new Congress begins on January 3, 2025.

As we look at items that are health related, lawmakers need to approve pending funding increases for medical research, public health, and patient care programs before December 20th. If they don't, the temporary measure keeping the government running will expire.

While there are many important health bills to follow, the list below features overarching items with strong bipartisan support and pressing need for action that could be decided on before the end of this year.

  • Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act (H.R. 10073). Physicians are set to receive a deep cut in reimbursement for seeing Medicare patients. If such a cut was to take place, it would jeopardize access for Medicare beneficiaries. This legislation would address the pending cut.

  • Safe Step Act (S. 652/H.R. 2630). This legislation advances guardrails that would protect patients from harmful and disruptive impacts of step therapy and fail first protocols.

  • Protecting Healthcare for All Patients Act (H.R. 485). This legislation seeks further action to ban value frameworks and similar discriminatory practices in federal health plans that jeopardize patient access to care.

  • Accelerating Kids Access to Care Act (S. 2372/H.R. 4758). This legislation calls on state Medicaid programs to establish a swift process to qualify out-of-state providers to temporarily treat children.

  • Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act (S. 2085/H.R. 2407). This legislation provides coverage and payment for multi-cancer early detection screening tests.

Changes to Medicare in 2025

Our webinar series on the upcoming changes to Medicare were a huge success! And almost 60% of post-event survey respondents stated that more than half of the information presented was new to them.

We encourage you to watch both sessions on demand and share with your network - education is critical in helping you make informed healthcare decisions.
