This morning, Delegate Shaneka Henson and the District 30A delegation met with Governor Larry Hogan, Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman, Annapolis City Mayor Gavin Buckley, and other elected officials to tour the damage from Wednesday's tornado after effects. Many local businesses in the 1900 block of West Street had roof and other exterior damage. Neighboring communities in Parole and Annapolis Gardens are without power and water, and appeared to have encountered the brunt of the storm damage. While touring south county, damage to the Center for Applied Technology--South and the athletic fields at South River High School were assessed. Thankfully there were no casualties or major injuries at this time.
Scam Alert. Residents and businesses burdened with the aftermath are strongly encouraged to check for a licensed identification number (MHIC) when seeking repair or cleanup work (such as tree removal). Licensed contractors should provide a license identification number (MHIC) that can be searched in the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR) website here: https://www.dllr.state.md.us/pq/, or call 1-888-218-5925 (toll free). Using licensed contractors provides you the backing of the State of Maryland so that you are not the victim of scammers who often prey on victims after natural disasters. Protect yourself and your bank account.
