NATIONAL NIGHT OUT DISTRICT 4 RECAP
I'd like to thank everyone that participated in National Night Out! We had over 400 people at our Northwood Park event enjoying pizza and ice cream, including many of our local elected officials, community leaders and community advocates. A special thank you goes out to the San Jose Fire Department for giving so many tours of the City HAZMAT truck, giving out hats, and sharing vital safety information with our community. The San Jose Police Department also came out and met with our residents, building relationships and having discussions about what we can all do to improve public safety together.
I also had a chance to visit a number of other National Night Out events across the district and it was great to see neighbors organizing and getting to know each other. Neighborhood groups like the Penitencia Neighborhood Association have turned National Night Out into an annual event and we highly encourage everyone to do something similar! In future years, I hope to support many more National Night Out events throughout the district so please reach out to my office if you'd like some assistance in organizing or promoting.
Congressman Ro Khanna, Supervisor Otto Lee and Assemblymember Alex Lee joined me in celebrating our great communities and neighborhoods here in District 4. We all got a chance to spend some quality with you, our constituents, hear your questions and concerns and get your feedback. My office is planning many events in the very near future and I hope you'll join us. To me, nothing will ever replace being able to see all of you in person.
Sincerely,

COUNTY RELEASES NEW COVID DATA DASHBOARD
The County of Santa Clara released a new data dashboard on Wednesday, breaking out COVID-19 case rates by vaccination status. The latest numbers reflect what public health officials have been echoing in recent weeks: the Delta variant is fueling a surge in cases and the unvaccinated are at the highest risk of infections.
For the dashboard, residents are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after the final dose of the vaccine, and are considered unvaccinated if they have not received any doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. Case rates are used in the dashboard instead of the number of cases because case rates allow for a better comparison of the burden of COVID-19 between different sized populations.
Currently, 84% of Santa Clara County residents age 12 and older have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine and roughly 78% have completed their vaccination. Santa Clara County has among the highest vaccination rates in the nation, but it remains critical that more individuals get vaccinated to further protect the community, particularly children, the elderly, and people who are immunocompromised.
Vaccination sites throughout the county continue to accept drop-ins for COVID-19 vaccines and same-day appointments are also available. Visit sccfreevax.org for the latest information and updates.

CITY HALL PERMIT CENTER OPENS BY APPOINTMENT THIS WEEK
City Hall reopened to the public on August 2, 2021 and the first floor Permit Center has reopened by appointment-only, following the practices outlined in the County Public Health Order. Currently, all visitors are strongly encouraged to wear a mask and unvaccinated visitors are required to wear a mask. City employees will wear masks and work behind plexiglass to provide further protection for the public and employees alike.
Before the pandemic, the throng of customers in the Permit Center and Cashier areas at City Hall was a common sight. But even then, we were working to provide paperless, convenient digital services for permits and financial transactions. Now, as City Hall reopens, we encourage the continued use of our expanded online and virtual services — for efficiency, to protect everyone’s health, and to support our Climate Smart San Jose goals for reducing pollution and emissions.
