Help Us Create a Bright Future For Our Community!
DONATE TODAY & MAKE A DIFFERENCE
The Center For Education, Business and the Arts (CEBA) is very close to becoming a reality! This innovation center will become a community hub where all people of all walks of life, ages, and backgrounds can gather, share ideas and learn and grow together.

Take a Look How Far We've Come
  • Thanks to a generous grant from the Regional Housing Legal Services, we are working with Chris Gulotta of the Gulotta Group to assist us in obtaining financing and processing grant and loan applications
  • We have received a $1.5 RACP state grant that requires a dollar-to-dollar match. An ongoing capital campaign continues for the match and to raise match funding and for commitments that are not covered by state grants.
  • Murphy Dittenhafer is the architect selected for the building's layout and design
  • Multiple letters of intent and letters of support from area business leaders, organizations, government officials, and community members who support CEBA are arriving daily
  • DSI is accepting requests for naming rights for rooms within CEBA
  • DSI is accepting requests for naming bricks for the CEBA building
  • Everyone who donates will have their name included on a Giving Tree located in the building's lobby
  • DSI plans to start CEBA construction in early 2022

CEBA’s collaborative environment will enable individuals to grow their business ideas to a point where they can open their own storefronts, thereby helping to revitalize the community, fill empty storefronts, and create new jobs.
"My dream is to create a collaborative community center where people can learn from one another and strengthen their entrepreneurial and professional skills. DSI and the Shenandoah community are committed to making this happen through The Center for Education, Business and the Arts (CEBA)" said DSI President, Karen Kenderdine.

We're making headway every day. Be a part of history and please donate today. Every dollar counts...your dollar counts.

Two Celebrations! One Big Day!
Downtown Shenandoah, Inc. Combines Two Outdoor Festivals on August 21, 2021
Parade of Nations Kicks Off The Day at 10:00 am
Downtown Shenandoah, Inc. is combining two of its biggest outdoor fundraising events. On August 21, 2021, downtown, Shenandoah will be full of excitement and activity as the community celebrates Kielbasi Festival and Heritage Day from 11 am – 5 pm. Thousands of visitors will travel to Shenandoah for the one-day event.

“Due to the pandemic restrictions we had to cancel both fundraisers in 2020 and postpone the 2020 Kielbasi Festival that is traditionally held in May,” said Susan Williams. “Our annual Heritage Day is always held in August so the DSI promotions committee decided to combine the two for one big celebration in 2021."

Kielbasi, Pierogies and So Much More

The August 21 event will feature all types of vendors that will line Main Street. Shenandoah legends, Kowalonek’s Kiebasey Shop, Capital Food Market, Lucky’s Kielbasi Shop, and Mrs. T’s Pierogies will attend and have their all-time favorites on hand. Local businesses and restaurants will also be open to serve the crowd. “Food trucks and vendors from different parts of the country are traveling to Shenandoah providing a wonderful variety of food, beverages, and desserts during the day. Arts and crafts vendors will also be selling their wares. Visitors will also enjoy musical entertainment throughout the day.

Parade Of Nations Kicks Off The Festival

The annual Parade of Nations kicks off the festival at 10:00 am led by the Shenandoah Valley High School Band. The unique parade celebrates and showcases all the different ethnicities that now call Shenandoah, home. “Parade participants wear their country’s colors and carry flags. First responders, The Color Guard, government officials, area musicians, and the 2021 Grand Marshal will parade through town. “Everyone is welcome to represent their country,” explained Williams. “Everyone is invited to celebrate and honor their heritage.”

After the parade, the festival opens with an introduction and welcome in the Memorial Park next to the Downtown Shenandoah, Inc. office at 116 N. Main Street. Entertainment is planned throughout the day including polka music, folk singers, and a big band tribute to the Dorsey Brothers.

Parade Of Nations Celebrates Shenandoah's
Diverse Heritage and History

Shenandoah's Main Street is the site of the annual Parade of Nations that will kick off Kielbasi Festival & Heritage Day on Saturday, August 21, at 10:00 am. This unique parade celebrates Shenandoah's melting pot history.

A recent article in The July 20 Republican-Herald took readers on a walk through history sharing Shenandoah's unique and diverse history. "The array of nationalities has logged remarkable-even startling- achievements," the article stated.

Many cultures and faiths have been represented in the Parade of Nations in the past and we expect this parade to be just as well represented," said Andrea Pytak, DSI board member.

All ethnicities, local bands, and community members are invited and encouraged to participate in this one-of-a-kind parade. Everyone is welcome to walk, watch, and celebrate!

Intro To Paper Quilling Was Topic of CEBA Connects on July 15 At Walk In Art Center
The Walk In Art Center located in Schuylkill Haven, was the location of a recent CEBA Connects 2021 presentation, Introduction the Paper Quilling. This complimentary art class was co-hosted by Downtown Shenandoah, Inc and The Walk In Art Center.

Marky Barto, owner of Art by Marky, a Shenandoah resident, and a Walk in Art Center studio artist, led the hands-on class. Attendees created their very own notecards using techniques shared by Marky.

"The Walk In Art Center is the Folk Art Alliance of Schuylkill, Berks, and Lancaster counties. They have provided a letter of intent to use CEBA, The Center for Education, Business, and ARTS as a location for local folk artists to meet and keep their cultural art alive for future generations.

The Folk Art Alliance's mission is to document the varied expressions of folk and traditional arts in the region, to enhance the capacity for regional artists to thrive in their creative endeavors, and to foster learning opportunities between artists and the public.

We would like to thank Marky and the Walk In Art Center team for their participation. We look forward to offering more art-related presentations in the future.
