WEEKLY HIGHLIGHT

Yesterday saw the 185th opening day for Doane Academy, and was met with the traditional seniors' arrival by canoe. They were greeted by the entire school community on the banks of the Delaware River, immediately in front of the school. This year sees the opening the school with the largest enrollment since the mid-1980's, and all are thrilled to have everyone, including all of our international students, on campus for 100% in-person learning.

Parents Association - Volunteer Opportunities at the Wood Street Fair

The Wood Street Fair is a much anticipated annual event which takes place in the historic City of Burlington. More than 175 of the area's artisans, crafters, vendors, and Doane Academy(!) are scheduled to be at this event which takes place on September 11th, from 9:00am until 4:00pm.

Doane Academy will have a table at the fair and parent volunteers are needed to serve as ambassadors to answer questions and share information about our school. Wear your Doane spirit gear! Students may accompany their parents.

Please sign up here to be an ambassador for Doane Academy.

The table location will be #80 (near the corner of Riverbank and Wood St.);
the same location where the Doane table has been in the past.
Doane Partners With the Center For Family Services:
Empower Run & Walk Happens This Weekend!

This year we will partner with the Center for Family Services on a number of engaging, meaningful and age appropriate projects. Some of you may already be familiar with CFFS as we have partnered with them before through some lower school initiatives including a supply drive last year. Our future projects will support services such as helping children experiencing homelessness, meeting the needs of teens who identify as LGBTQIA+, providing support services to families in the adoption process, provide informed care for traumas, and suicide prevention trainings for schools, and more! Although most of our projects will be worked on during school hours and will not require financial commitments, there is one opportunity right now that all Doane families and staff are encouraged to join - the Empower 5k Run and 1 Mile Walk. This is a virtual event that takes place September 10-12 and registration is $30 per person. If you are interested in helping us kick off our partnership with this wonderful organization, we'd love to "see" you at this event! Click on the link above to join our team! More detailed information about our partnership is forthcoming as we are currently working with CFFS and creating a wide array of service opportunities for our students. If you have any questions, contact Community Service Coordinator Katie Sereduk, [email protected]
