SOUTH BAY HABITAT RESTORATION PROJECT: COASTAL CLEANUP DAY 2021 
The South Bay Yacht Club of north San Jose / Alviso California needs your help with habitat restoration on the Alviso Slough. Join me and members of the community in preserving and protecting this important wildlife sanctuary. It is home to a vibrant and fragile eco system and is a critical part of the migration path for millions of birds.




Coastal Cleanup Day, Saturday September 18, 2021 9:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M.

South Bay Yacht Club, 1491 Hope Street, San Jose (Alviso) 

 
Haul out old abandoned docks, stack everything into dumpsters.  
Followed by BBQ lunch for all volunteers. 

 
 
All volunteers with strong backs and a willingness to help with habitat restoration. All adults must sign waivers, youth must have waiver signed by parent or legal guardian. 

Parking is free and plentiful on Hope Street and Catherine Street. I hope to see you there.

VIVA CALLE 5K RUN!
Each year's VIVA CALLE RUN event opens upwards of six miles of streets, through some of San José's most iconic neighborhoods for people to come out and play for the day! 
Event Weekend Schedule:  
Saturday, September 18th: Packet Pick-up Sports Basement in Campbell from 1:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M.
 
Sunday, September 19th: Event Day  
The start of the 5K will begin at 8:00 A.M. sharp 
The start of the kids run will begin at 9:30 A.M.
DHL CELEBRATES LATEST STORE OPEN WITH TREE GIVEAWAY
On Sept. 25 in San José, DHL is proud to celebrate its newest small business partner store, which is owned by local resident Kelly Tran. DHL collaborated with local business Our City Forest Community Nursery and the City of San José to give away dozens of trees and plants to store guests (while supplies last)!

San José residents and visitors to the area are all welcome to attend the event and take part in the giveaway – which aims to help enlarge the tree canopy in the City of San José in support of the city’s commitment to plant 100,000 new trees by 2022.

Do Divas always get along? Sometimes! Let’s discuss the performances and relationships of Patti Lupone, Glenn Close, Mary Martin, and Carol Channing among others. Sam and Candy Caponegro have worked in all aspects of theater for over 30 years. They are passionate about movie musicals and provide lectures to keep them alive. Their programs are educational, entertaining, and reviewed highly by their audiences.  

Recommended for Adults, but families are welcome. 
Registration is required to receive a link and password. Deadline to sign-up will be 1 hour before the program begins. 
CHANGES TO EMERGENCY RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
 All low-income San José residents who have been impacted by the pandemic can apply for emergency rental assistance through one program – the CA COVID-19 Rent Relief Program. This program will pay up to 100% of rent and utility bills for qualified residents. To apply for rental assistance, renters should visit HousingIsKey.com or call 833-430-2122.

Residents who would like help with the application process may visit either of the City’s two Eviction Prevention Help Centers. No appointment is needed. One help center is located on the 12th floor of City Hall open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The other help enter is located in the Franklin-McKinley School District office at 645 Wool Creek Drive. It is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Please visit the Eviction Help Center website or call 408-975-4444 for more information.

FREE CRISIS COUNSELING IN SAN JOSE
United Parents is offering FREE Crisis Counseling sessions in the state of California. The goal is to assist individuals, families, and communities recovering from the effects of Covid-19. To do this, they provide free emotional and crisis support sessions for up to 6 contacts by phone, videoconferencing, smart device and/or computer chat.

Gardner Health Services is offering the Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccine to all patients, clients, and the community at large. Open to ages 12 and up. Vaccines are offered at all Gardner Health Services Health Centers in Santa Clara County. No appointments needed, but appointments preferred.
