FALL BOOSTERS

CROSS COUNTRY

Half of the cross country season is in the books. After some strong performances at Woodbridge, the girls team is ranked 4th in the CIF Southern Section and the boys team is ranked 1st. As of September 26, the boys team is also ranked 25th nationally and 1st in California. On October 8th, the team raced at a Bay League meet and it was 1st place for both freshman teams, JV girls, and both Varsity teams, and 2nd place for the JV Boys. The team will get an opportunity to showcase their talent and hard work at the upcoming Bell Gardens Invitational on October 19th and the Mt. SAC Invitational on October 26th. This season is really shaping up to be spectacular!

Join us for Mira Costa High School's captivating production of Anatomy of Gray. This thought-provoking play follows young June, who, after losing her father, wishes for a healer to save her small town. When a mysterious doctor arrives in a balloon, hope quickly turns to chaos. This poignant story weaves themes of loss, love, and healing into a compelling coming-of-age tale.

“Every year, we reflect on our recent seasons to identify new challenges and diversify the genres we offer. After two years of comedic productions, we chose Anatomy of Gray for its relevant themes and the rich, dramatic roles it offers our actors—providing them with deeply emotional material set against gritty circumstances.” Director and co-Producer, Jonathan Westerberg.

MEDIA ARTS

Graphic Design students produced social media stories to combat the climate crisis, and Cinematic Arts classes analyzed films from Orson Welles and Alfred Hitchcock as part of a Director's workshop.

MUN

The Model UN Conference season is in full swing, and Costa is ready to have another great year! SOCOMUN, Costa MUN’s most recently attended conference, was a huge success! Mira Costa came home with three Best Delegates, fourteen Outstandings, and ten Commendation awards, showing the hard work that each and every delegate put into the SOCOMUN debate. Additionally, Mira Costa MUN’s annual dunk tank booth for the Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair was a splash! Our booth was able to both raise money for the Mira Costa Model UN Program and leave people with smiles and many memories. Currently, the Costa delegates are preparing for our next conference, Edison MUN, which is being held on October 19th and 20th. Students are creating solutions, finalizing position papers, and practicing speeches in preparation for the debate. Overall, Costa MUN is looking forward to a great season and excited to work hard and have fun!

MUN - HOLIDAY POINSETTIA FUNDRAISER Get into the holiday spirit and support Costa's Model UN program by purchasing festive Poinsettias! SURF - Boys and Girls

Defending champion Costa will be looking to repeat again in the annual Kick Off Classic surf competition hosted at 26th street M.B. This is the official season opener with all high schools stretching from Santa Monica to Palos Verdes competing in this annual event. 

The annual Costa Surf Team Parent Party / Silent Auction fundraiser will be Friday, Nov. 8th.. Surf Team alumni are also welcome. More details to come.

VISUAL ARTS

Art Night is October 25th from 5-7pm in the Art Quad. This is a fun night where Costa’s talented artists sell their wares! If you have an art student, come check it out! If you don’t - but are going to the football game, come see what we have on your way to the game! Grab a printed t-shirt, a glitter tattoo or something else cool that a Costa student made! New this year: Taco Cart. Bring $10 and have some tacos.

MUSTANG MADNESS

MCHS boys and girls annual pre-season pep rally that takes place to kick off basketball season. If you’re familiar with Midnight Madness, which takes place at the college level, then you might know what to expect from this event! There will be lots of fun basketball competitions and we collaborate with the boys team for this event. We would love to have you in attendance. Please mark your calendars and share the date with your friends and family! We want to pack the gym!! Here is a video from last year’s event. Let’s make it the best one yet!

RUGBY - BOYS and GIRLS

ANNUAL RUGGERS CAMP, NOVEMBER 11TH – SAVE THE DATE! 

The Rugby teams are excited for their annual one-day, coed RUGGERS NON-CONTACT DAY CAMP on our school district’s Veterans Day holiday – Monday, November 11th from 8:30 to 11:30 am!   All kids (boys & girls) ages 5 to 14 are welcome and will have a blast at our rugby camp run by Mira Costa High School Varsity Rugby Coaches and Rugby Athletes. They will have a fun day playing games and learning skills. Elite Ruggers ages 11-14 will receive an introduction to our High School experience presented by Head Coach Duke Dulgarian.  Cost is $72 per child.  Register here. View the flyer.

Also come cheer on our Boys’ Rugby at their Green and Gold game on November 21st as they prepare for their opening season game on December 14th.  The Rugby Program also is looking forward to its 11th Annual Alumni-Student Touch Tournament on December 26th from 4:30-6:30 pm, followed immediately by its 1st Annual Costa Rugby Hall of Fame Induction at Grunions.

JOIN THE MIRA COSTA SKECHERS WALK TEAM TODAY

The countdown has begun! The SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk is less than two weeks away on Sunday, October 20th. Register with the MBEF Team and support not only the Friendship Foundation, but MBEF and Manhattan Beach Schools. Even if you can’t make the walk, you can register as a “virtual walker” and be included in the team count. TEDxMANHATTAN BEACH TEDxManhattan Beach will be held on November 2 at Mira Costa High School from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  This year's event, with the theme of "Changemakers" promises to be an inspiring lineup of speakers. Tickets are on sale now.

Sponsorships of Mira Costa athletic teams and visual and performing arts organizations are only available through MBX Booster Clubs. This includes the sale of banners, branded merchandise, distribution of promotional materials, publishing game calendars and more.

It has come to our attention that several companies are approaching local businesses and representing themselves as selling sponsorships that say they benefit Mira Costa athletics. These are not authorized representations and NO funds from these activities are received by Mira Costa High School or the teams they say they are representing.
