Measure A Ballot Initiative

General Municipal Election - November 8, 2022

This is an important matter which impacts every PGA WEST homeowner.

After a lengthy petition campaign effort this issue will be on the November election ballot allowing La Quinta homeowners and registered voters to decide for themselves. This is the first time in the history of our city that La Quinta registered voters have obtained the required signatures to place an issue on the ballot.

A yes vote will phase out non-hosted short-term vacation rentals in nonexempt areas by December 31, 2024. A non-hosted short-term vacation rental is a type of short-term vacation rental whereby the owner rents a short-term vacation rental unit for compensation for periods of 30 consecutive calendar days or less while the owner does not live on-site or in the dwelling unit throughout the occupants’ stay.

A no vote on this ballot measure will leave the current City of La Quinta ordinances in place which allow for short-term rentals when properly permitted.

The full text of the petition that was circulated is attached here.

We encourage everyone to carefully review the petition language and exercise your right to vote in November. If you are not registered to vote, please visit voteinfo.net and register.
