Community Services Update

December 2022

A Passion for Service

The Arbors of Sam Houston is one of Atlantic Housing's five student housing communities. Located in Huntsville, TX, it's home to college students attending Sam Houston State University. In December, residents started their fall finals and appreciated some much-needed support from the Arbors of Sam Houston team. As the on-site Community Engagement Associate, Sarah Ellis organized events and thoughtful gifts for the residents during finals week. She said, "I think it's an important and stressful time for students. Providing the bare necessities just to help them get through it is the least we can do."

This year, she and her team handed out "Final Preparation" goodie bags with pens, highlighters, mini notepads, a snack, and other small treats. They also provided testing Scantrons in the front office for residents to come by and pick up if they were running late or in a pinch. On Thirsty Thursday, she delivered Sonic drinks for the first 30 residents to comment on an Instagram post. And one evening, Sarah hosted a PJs & Pancakes dinner so the students could focus on their studies and not have to cook or go out to get a meal.

Sarah has worked at the Arbors of Sam Houston since May of this year, and she likes to get creative for each month's activities. She says, "It really brightens my day seeing people happy to be here. We all know any customer service job can be difficult at times, but the rewarding moments truly make me happy. And being a part of the SAM Team makes it a plus!"

Keep up the great work!

Committed to Excellence

Atlantic Housing's Arbors of Denton community houses college students attending the University of North Texas. Led by Community Manager Timothy Guzman, the Arbors of Denton team keeps a strong focus on serving residents and their visiting families. Recently the team honed in on getting  feedback about their experiences at Arbors of Denton via Google reviews.

The staff is trained to ask for a review after every tour, move in, move out, maintenance request completion, and unit inspection. Tim said, "We are a student housing community, so the U.S. Postal service drops off mail and our onsite team sorts and delivers it. When residents come into our office to pick up a package, we check in with them and ask for a review! We are in full communication with our residents and guarantors, which is typically a parent of the student, and they love to leave us reviews because of our hard work in prepping the units for our bulk move in date."

Much of the feedback has been positive. Scroll to see a few of Arbors of Denton's recent reviews:
