The Best Laid Plans
Greetings. I write this blog on Friday night. Our Monday Georgetown Lombardi External Advisory Committee meeting went very well. We received strong feedback that we are on the right track for a highly successful competitive renewal of our CCSG. We have work to do, of course, but have a great story to tell, and we look forward to sharing it.

Hyundai Hope On Wheels Presents Georgetown Lombardi with Grant to Support Pediatric Cancer Research
Hyundai Hope On Wheels, a nonprofit supported by Hyundai Motor America and its U.S. dealers, presented a $300,000 Hyundai Scholar Hope Grant to Georgetown Lombardi to support the research of pediatric oncologist and the grant’s principal investigator Jeffrey Toretsky, MD. The Hyundai Scholar Hope Grant was officially presented to Louis M. Weiner, MD, and Aykut Üren, MD, on Toretsky’s behalf at Georgetown Lombardi on Tuesday, September 20. Several Congressional leaders attended the event.
During the event, attendees including pediatric cancer fighters being treated by Georgetown Lombardi doctors participated in the program's signature Handprint Ceremony, where they dipped their hands in paint and placed handprints on a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe. The colorful handprints represent the individual and collective journeys, hopes and fight against childhood cancer.
The Hyundai Scholar Hope Grants are awarded to eligible Children's Oncology Group (COG) member institutions through a competitive peer-reviewed process. They are part of Hyundai Hope on Wheels’ commitment of $15 million to support research grants to children's hospitals nationwide in 2022.
