School Supply Lists
Our first day of school is Wednesday, August 31st. Monday, August 29th, between 9am and noon, parents/guardians can drop off supplies for their students. Parents/Guardians, please watch for an email from your class teacher with more details.

Class supply lists are linked below. Do not forget about Ohio’s Tax Free Weekend for school supplies this Friday, August 5th through Sunday, August 7th!

SGWS Summer Cultural Event: Saturday, August 6th
Join us for a celebration of Himalayan and Nepalese culture Saturday, August 6th, from 5pm-7pm at Spring Garden.

This free event is open to friends and families of our Spring Garden community and will include a craft, game, facts about Nepal and a special performance by the Himalayan Arts, Language and Cultural Academy beginning at approximately 5:30pm. 

Food from The Ice Bucket (shaved ice/ice cream/hot dogs: accepts cash/card) and Henna Art (cash) will be available for purchase. So bring a picnic blanket, lawn chairs and some friends for a fun evening!

Upcoming First Grade Picnic
On August 10th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., we will be hosting a picnic for all the incoming First Grade students and their families. This will take place at Copley Park, Pavilion C. Spring Garden will provide plates, cups, cutlery, and drinks, and we are asking that each family sign up to bring a dish to share.

New Family Orientation
We are very excited to welcome 29 new students and 20 new families to our school! They will join us August 29th at 6PM for New Student & Family Orientation. This is an orientation for adults only. We will be giving a brief welcome presentation, introducing our administrative staff, reviewing key policies and answering questions. We are very excited to meet everyone and welcome them into our community! Please plan to stay after orientation for our Welcome Back Dinner (info below).
Welcome Back Dinner
We hope all new and current families will join us for the Welcome Back Dinner at 7PM on August 29th hosted by Parent Council. This is an adults only event. Will you be coming? Let Parent Council know so they can plan their food and drink offerings! RSVP HERE.
Before and Aftercare 2022-23
Before and Aftercare will be available for children from the age of 3 through 8th grade as a pre-registered and prepaid service for the 2022-23 school year. Space will be limited to 6 students in early childhood and 20 students in the grades. Beforecare will begin at 7:30 a.m. and students will remain in beforecare until they transition to morning recess at the start of the school day. Aftercare will begin at 3:30 p.m. and be available until 6 p.m.

The minimum amount of use will be 50 hours ($300) for beforecare and 100 hours ($600) for aftercare.

School Calendar 2022-23
The administrative faculty has approved our 2022-23 school year calendar! The first day of school will be August 31, 2022 and our last day will be June 1, 2023.

SGWS Athletics
Do you wish to know more about Spring Garden Athletics?! Please read the attached document to learn about our programs here at SGWS and within the CYO league!

We are now accepting registrations for our fall cross country team. Participation is open to students in grades 5-8.

Early registration is due by July 31. Summer practices will begin on July 25.
We Are Hiring!
Early Childhood Assistant: Duties include assisting the lead teacher, setting up the classroom, preparing snacks, and supporting the rhythm of the classroom. Bachelor’s degree required. Several positions available. 

Beforecare and Aftercare Coordinators: Duties include providing before and after school care to students from Pre-K through Grade 8. Applicants should have direct experience working with children, an education background and an interest in Waldorf education. Work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:15-8:30 am and 3:00-6:00 pm with the possibility of combining with other opportunities.

Director of Development: Duties include planning and developing strategies, goal setting, coordination and evaluation of all key development efforts including philanthropic revenue generation, annual giving, fundraising events, alumni relations, communications materials, and grants. This individual will work as chief fundraiser of the school and personally identify, cultivate and develop meaningful relationships with potential funding sources and community partnerships.

The successful candidate will demonstrate: proven success in setting and meeting fundraising goals; knowledge and experience identifying and cultivating prospects, and managing all aspects of donor stewardship including tracking, reporting and database development and management; excellent communication skills; and the ability to work and interact effectively with many different types of people. Bachelor's Degree required with experience in Waldorf Education preferred. This is a full-time salaried position. Some evening and weekend work will be required.

Athletic Department Opportunities

Spring Garden is hiring the following positions within our athletic department:

Assistant coaches for cross country and basketball (CYO designates these as girls and boys basketball): Duties include supporting head coach, leading and assisting with practice sessions, attending practices and competitions within the season, and maintaining team statistics.

Head coaches for basketball (CYO designates these as girls and boys basketball.): Duties include planning and executing practice sessions, setting practice schedule, communicating with parents, attending practices and competitions within the season, distribution of uniforms and equipment.

These are seasonal, part-time positions of Spring Garden Waldorf School, paid by stipend. All positions report to the athletic director. Qualifications include a high school diploma and previous experience as an athlete and working with students. Previous experience coaching middle-school age students is preferred.

Cross country season runs approximately from the end of July through mid-October. Basketball season runs approximately from November through early February.
