From VAST President, Barbara Lindley
VAST like many other programs, jobs, and plans has somewhat been on hold for the last couple of months. However, the time has come to move forward with some uncertainty. We are not sure exactly what the next few months will look like but we do know that we will continue to work on programs for the visual arts. Opportunities to learn, present and share through ZOOM are being explored. We hope to expand our offering with online opportunities that will reach you in your homes. Our May monthly meeting this week Wednesday, will be held by Zoom. Please look below for the instructions.
This year it is even more important to be sure that your annual membership has been paid. If you renew by May 31, you will have free entry into our VAST Calendar. See the article and instructions below to renew and enter the exhibition.
The
Members Exhibition and
125 Mile Exhibit are scheduled for the fall, so continue to do your best art and be ready.
Merging Visions, the collaboration between VAST and DPA will be held online in August with a summary view at our September members meeting. Don't forget the calendar art should be submitted June 15. The
Something Extra Exhibit
at TWU scheduled for the summer is canceled. The TWU galleries are closed. Stephen Zhang workshop will be held at Beulah Acres on May 25-27.
BOARD ELECTION
Traditionally we elect board members in May. Since this year is not like any other year, it is the plan to hold the election by default. That means that the slate of candidates will be presumed to be elected unless enough email "Nay's" are received. Please reply to this newsletter to vote any "Nay" votes.
BOARD
The nominating committee has met and is offering the following recommendations for board service.
2nd three year terms:
Kimberly Karl
Ingrid Scobie
New Board Members:
Pam Livingston, Treasurer
Jennifer Way

Galleri Urbane
The Right Rituals,
József Csató
Online Exhibition at galleriurbane.com
Galleri Urbane is pleased to announce the gallery's second exclusive online exhibition,
The Right Rituals,
featuring the work of József Csató. Based in Budapest, the newly represented artist presents his first solo exhibition with an American gallery after exhibiting extensively across Hungary, Austria, and Germany.
The Right Rituals
is comprised of ten paintings, including works ranging from 2018 to many new works completed in recent weeks. With a distinct style that seemingly fuses figurative, still life, and narrative painting, Csató invites viewers into an imaginary universe containing a cast of whimsical characters.
Through the ten canvases in
The Right Rituals,
viewers are granted access to Csató's limitless imagination. Given this access and the ability to construct one's own perception of the artist's otherworldly settings, viewers are also provided a chance to expand on their own imaginative potential.
József Csató
lives and works in Budapest, Hungary. He completed his studies in the painting department of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts (MKE) in the class of Dóra Maurer in 2006. He is a three-time recipient of the honorable Gyula Derkovits Scholarship, receiving the award from 2013-2015. In 2013, he also received the prominent Esterhazy Prize, a national award for Hungarian artists. Csató completed an artist residency at Krinzinger Gallery (A) - AIR program in 2017 and his work has been exhibited in many group and solo exhibitions across Europe including Budapest, Vienna, Berlin, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Nürnberg and Copenhagen. His works can be found in Hungarian and International private and institutional collections.
Now go... and check into any and all museums and galleries!
