AT SPSL,
COMMUNICATION IS KEY!
School to parent communication is necessary here at SPSL. We strive for paperless communication so the school office will contact parents via:
1. Email
2. SPSL website (www.spsl.net) with a focus on the Daily Announcements page
3. E-Newsletter which is emailed out twice a month.
It is important that the school office has an up to date email address for your family and that you do not unsubscribe from school communications.
Teachers and grade levels will also communicate with parents by email, Classroom page on SPSL website, social media, or daily/weekly folder. The school also has a Facebook and Instagram page. These pages may highlight school announcements, but were created to offer a fun view of what is happening in our building.

EDUCATION COMMITTEE
The Education Committee is a subcommittee of the School Board. The main purpose of the Education Committee is to act as a liaison between parents and the Administration/School Board. The committee is advisory to the Administration/School Board on such issues as school uniform, parental concerns, and school policy formation, and then makes related policy recommendations to the School Board. RESTAURANT NIGHTS
SPSL Restaurant Nights are once a month fundraisers held at a variety of restaurants around town. SPSL partners with a restaurant and encourages attendance. SPSL supporters show a hard copy or electronic flyer about the SPSL event at the time of purchase and a portion of the proceeds goes to SPSL. To learn more about Restaurant Nights, click here.
Mark your calendar for the first Restaurant Night of the year on Tuesday, September 14 at Godfather's Pizza on 108th & Maple from 4:00 - 9:00 pm. When you place your order and show this flyer, Godfather's will donate a portion of your purchase to our school. Thank you for supporting SPSL School!

RACE FOR EDUCATION
Thank you to our amazing community of SPSL students, parents, and volunteers who made the 17th Annual Race for Education held on May 14, 2021 a huge success! Despite a rainy start, it was a fun-filled day that included walking, running, and snow cones! Our school community worked together, and as a result SPSL exceeded our fundraising goal by earning over $80,000 after expenses! Way to go, Panthers!

MANY THANKS...
Our new Sudanese neighbors would like to thank everyone involved for the donations of time, energy, furniture, household items, cash, gift cards, and prayers so generously given by SPSL and the two parishes. The items are being used every day and are much appreciated! The family is busy going to medical, dental, and governmental appointments. The children are looking forward to school, and the parents are eager to begin English classes and employment training.
Thanks again to everyone. It’s great to see what the communities of St. Pius X / St. Leo School and the two parishes can do!

FAMILY HANDBOOK UPDATE
The SPSL Family Handbook has been updated to include a section on 'Water Bottles'. The following is the language that was added to the handbook: No glass containers or glass water bottles are allowed at school. This includes lunch boxes. Containers should only contain water. If a flavoring enhancer is added to the water, it must be free of any coloring, and the water must remain clear. To access the handbook, click here.

SCHOOL SWEATSHIRTS
As the weather begins to cool, your son or daughter may be in need of a school uniform sweatshirt. School sweatshirt orders are filled on a weekly basis from inventory kept in stock. Order forms can be found on the school website here.

SPSL WATER BOTTLES
This year, all SPSL students are asked to bring a refillable water bottle to school each day. Why not show your Panther spirit with your water bottle! SPSL has Panther water bottles available for purchase for just $5 each! To buy a water bottle, send cash/check to school with your child in an envelope marked “Attention Development Office”. We will send the water bottles home with your child so please also let us know their name and homeroom. Please include a note if the item is a gift that you would like to pick up rather than sending it home with your child.

INFORMATION SHARING
Occasionally St. Pius X and St. Leo Parishes may request information about our school families (such as name, address, phone number, cell phone number, special needs of the family, etc.). Because we are a two-parish school with St. Pius X Church and St. Leo Church being our major supporters, we will share this information unless you request that we do not. If you do not want your information shared with St. Pius X and/or St. Leo Parishes, please call the school office at 402-551-6667 by Friday, September 10, 2021.
