Arapahoe County Dates and Deadlines Document Updated


In order to keep our 4-H families and volunteers informed on 4-H dates and deadlines, the 4-H team has created a document containing an updated list of county-wide dates and deadlines for the 4-H year. 4-H Information Night


Do you have questions about 4-H? Please join us for a 4-H Information Night. The 4-H staff will be on the meeting and available to answer your questions.


Also, FairEntry will open for 4-H and Public Competition entries on June 1, so this will be a good chance for you to ask any questions you have about that process as well. This will give families time before the entry deadline (June 15) to get their questions answered so they can get their entries submitted in the system.


The meeting will be held on Zoom and will take place on June 7th at 6:30 p.m. Click on the image to the right to register.

All dates and times are on the signup genius. If a practice is cancelled, all members who signed up for that date will be notified. DO NOT REGISTER FOR A PRACTICE IF YOU DO NOT PLAN ON ATTENDING.

HUNTERS SAFETY AND PRACTICE CARDS:

Please make sure that you complete the Hunters Safety Course that is offered by Colorado Parks and Wildlife. You may go to https://cpw.state.co.us for more information. You will need to upload your card in 4Honline if you haven’t already.

 

When you attend your practices please make sure to take your practice cards to keep updated on your practice record. If you are new you can get those from the certified shooting sports volunteers.

Congratulations for our 4-H horse members who competed in their first Hippology contest on May 6! Members did an great job in a very difficult contest testing all aspects of the horse project. Senior member Tori Dinan was fifth overall. Junior members Kira Hoffman was second overall and Brooke Good was fifth overall. Zoey Germany and Caleb Dinan also participated. Kaylee Sefcovic, 4-H alumni and Hippology coach, looks forward to coaching a team again next year. Be on the lookout next 4-H year for information.

EFNEP (Expanded Food Nutrition Education Program)Supervisor/ Research Associate I/II/III

Position Description

 

The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at Colorado State University (CSU) invites applications for an EFNEP Supervisor/Research Associate I, II or III. We are seeking applicants with experience in assisting with the development and implementation of staff development for peer nutrition educators and contributions to the development and maintenance of curriculum and program materials. This position serves as an EFNEP Supervisor and Project Manager for EFNEP collaborative research projects. A successful candidate will bring experience that provides evidence of drive and initiative; the individual in this position must be a self-starter. EFNEP Supervisor responsibilities include providing direct supervision for EFNEP peer educators in multiple Colorado counties delivering state-approved educational programs following EFNEP program guidelines to ensure program fidelity and success and building successful and sustainable relationships with professionals from agencies such as WIC, SNAP, TANF, public housing, K12 schools and others, to establish EFNEP recruitment and teaching opportunities. Research Project Manager responsibilities include monitoring the implementation of research project protocols and data collection. This position supports the EFNEP Coordinator with records and reporting, manuscript writing and submission, grant writing and submission, and other duties as assigned. The classification of Research Associate will be determined by qualifications and experience.

FairEntry will open for online entries on June 1, 2023. June 15 is the deadline for fair entries, with a late deadline of June 16 - 22 with a $25.00 fee per 4-H Exhibitor.


NEW This Year!

Attention FCS & General project members and parents! This year you will have the ability to schedule your own interview times with the judges for Fair! This will be done in FairEntry after you have done your entries but BEFORE you hit the "submit" button. Jean has set this up in FairEntry and she will be putting together a tip sheet for you. She will send it out to you via email and it will be posted on our website when she gets it done.

Now that it is getting closer to Fair season and the 4-H community is thriving with their community service projects, project meetings, club meetings and practices we wanted to provide you some helpful information on 4-H Parent Expectations.

Due to sanitation and risks to human health, no food or beverage for human consumption will be permitted inside the barn areas. 4-H families and participants are welcome to utilize the 4-H Livestock Sale Dinner tent to have meals.


Please remember to wash your hands regularly, especially when working with livestock.

2023 4-H Fashion Revue


Join us for the 2023 4-H Fashion Revue! This year's theme is “4-H in Hollywood-WALK OF FAME”.


Who can participate? Anyone enrolled in Beginning Clothing STEAM 1, Clothing STEAM 2, Advanced Clothing STEAM 3, Recycled Clothing, Upcycle Your Style, Artistic Clothing, Buymanship and wearable Heritage Arts projects may model up to two garments or articles they have made for themselves. Cloverbuds may also participate in the Fashion Revue but are non-competitive.


Registrations are due by June 15th! Late registrations will NOT be accepted for any reason. Click on the image to the right for the guidelines/rules and the registration form.

Free Ground Corn


Would you like some free ground corn during the fair? For one of our heritage farm experiences. fair goers will be grinding corn in Heritage Hall. The corn will be purchased from Murdoch's (Country Companion whole corn-50 lb. bag). The Heritage Committee would be happy to share the ground corn on a daily basis. For more information or if interested, please email Mary Madsen by clicking on the image to the right.
