Together we raised over $438,000!

More than 305 wonderful friends and supporters joined us to uplift survivors at our 2024 Gala presented by The Standard on September 26th. Together this amazing community surpassed our goal and raised $438,310 (and counting!) to help ensure that our life-saving services are always here for families fleeing domestic violence.

The joy, strength, and love of our community was palpable! Our most exuberant thanks to everyone who helped make this possible – including all of the survivor speakers, sponsors, donors, staff, and volunteers.

At the Gala, we heard from Paula and her children, who are survivors, Raphael House participants, community leaders, and owners of the delicious La Cuchara food truck in Southeast Portland. Paula shared:

“Raphael House ha estado ahí para mi familia, para mis hijos, desde que eran muy pequeños. ¡Ahora casi todos son adultos! Gracias a Raphael House, todos estamos a salvo y estamos juntos.”

“Raphael House has been there for my family, for my kids, since they were very young. Now they are almost all grown up! Thanks to Raphael House we are all safe, and we are together.”

Watch Paula's powerful story!

Please share this video with your friends and colleagues, so they can hear directly from Paula and her family, too.

Missed the event? You can still donate and support survivors!

Special guest Paula, pictured with her children Yésica and Jose Luis, shared, "El apoyo que muestren esta noche les dará a otros sobrevivientes las oportunidades que hemos tenido en Raphael House – construir una vida segura, hermosa y sin abusos."

"The support you show tonight will give other survivors the opportunities we have had at Raphael House – to build a safe, beautiful life without abuse."

During cocktail and mocktail hour, guests had the chance to "dig" for special prizes worth up to $800. From gift certificates to event passes, everyone was a winner – thanks to support from 70+ amazing local businesses!

Executive Director Emmy Ritter highlighted our 47 years of impact, and how we're building a future free of domestic violence.

Board President Megan Wichern (left), long-time supporter Kelley Martin (center), and Board alumni Nicole Frisch showed their love for Raphael House!

Thanks to our Presenting sponsor The Standard for helping make this year's Gala possible. Their table included Standard representatives Julie Briggs and Kim DeLacy, Raphael House Board alumni and Finance Committee member.

Our interactive Survivor Messages space invited guests to share words of hope with survivors (which will be displayed at Raphael House) and to read messages from our program participants.

Both guest notes and survivor messages were so powerful, from "You're strong, brave, and resilient!" to "I wish I could go back and tell my younger self about all the love & support I'd receive as a survivor. Leaving seemed impossible...now I'm living my dream life."

18 local bakeries and pastry chefs helped us raise over $14,150 during our Dessert Dash, including local favorites JinJu Patisserie, Saint Cupcake, Pix Patisserie, and Dream Cakes.

Alliant Systems bid cards were held high throughout the night, as supporters gave and bid generously!

We're honored that many of our closest community partners joined us to celebrate, including leaders Margot Martin of Bradley Angle (left) and Betsy Glickman of Call to Safety.

Rachel Young, Recovery Mentor at Raphael House and former participant, and her daughter Alyvia, now a volunteer, shared their lived experience of our impact! They joined Myles Worthy, School-Based Prevention Site Coordinator, who spoke about our work in high schools with 2,000+ students last year alone.

Cheers to a beautiful night! Guests enthusiastically celebrated a winning package during our live auction, which was kept lively throughout thanks to our partner and auctioneer Kelly Russell of Artisan Auctions.

Multnomah County Commissioners Julia Brim-Edwards (left) and Sharon Meieran (center) showed their support alongside our Executive Director Emmy Ritter.*

Thanks to our Premier Wine sponsor Stoller Family Estate and shared sponsors Idiot's Grace, GC Wines, and Lundeen Wines, everyone could toast to success with us – including these friends from Fortis Construction.

The night's joy was contagious, as seen in the excitement of this fabulous Tonkon Torp group, including Board Members Sasha Petrova (center) and Paul Balmer (right), with our Gala's youngest attendee!

Current and alumni Board members, along with our Development Director, gathered for a celebratory photo at the end of the evening.

We look forward to sharing many more photos soon – stay tuned and check our social media channels for updates!
