Administration

Attendance

If your son or daughter is going to be absent for the day or has an appt. or will be either late or leaving early please email attendance@elyriacatholic.com.

If they leave for a Dr. Appointment please have the students get a note stating they were at the appointment. We can then mark the absence as medical.

Students can only miss approx. 9 days of school a year excused or unexcused. Medical Excuses do not count towards the 9 days of absences.

If students know they are going to miss school ahead of time, they must fill out a pre-arranged absence form. They can be found in the main office.

Tardies

Students must arrive at school and be in their first period class by 8 a.m. They will be considered tardy if they arrive between 8 and 8:20. They are given 2 excused tardies each quarter after the 2 tardies they will receive a 30 minute detention the following day. If they are later than 8:20 it is considered an absence and we will need an email from the parent stating the reason for the late arrival.

Drop Off in the morning

We have a new procedure when dropping off students in the morning that we hope will alleviate the backup traffic on Poplar and Gulf Rds. When dropping students off in the morning, you will notice cones directing you to proceed along the football fence to the end of the drive, then circle back up the drive. If you are turning left out of Elyria Catholic you will drop the students off on the plaza next to the

auditorium. Please do not drop off near the side auditorium door. If you are dropping off and turning right out of Elyria Catholic onto Poplar, pull in the turnaround area in front of the plaza

and pull up as far as possible to drop off your student. Please be aware of the students crossing the drive as they come from the far parking lot. So far we believe this is working better than in the past.

Pick Up in the afternoon

When picking up students after school, please pick them up in the far lot or wait until after 3:10 to pick them up by the turnaround. This is for our students' safety. We have students leaving school at dismissal and walking across the parking lot to get to the far lot. We also have our seniors exiting the parking lot.

Drop Off

At the high school level we are beginning to teach our students responsibilities. The students need to be responsible for their own belongings. When they leave for school do they have their chromebook, charger, homework, lunch, sports bags, art projects etc. As parents we do not expect you to bring everything they forget to school. There may be some consequences for them not having the appropriate belongings, but ultimately it is their responsibility not yours.

The biggest issue we have is they forget their lunch and ask you to pick up fast food. They are not to have fast food lunches for lunch. They are also not allowed to use uber eats or the other social media sites to order food.

Uniforms

Footwear - Students are not allowed to wear slip on sandals, moccasins, or black vans with the white symbol down the side.

ECHO Yearbooks

The 2021-22 yearbooks are in and are in the process of being distributed next week. Thank you for your patience. Enjoy the ECHO: Bring it out!

Lost & Found

There are several items on the lost and found table outside of the Main Office. Please remind your student to take a look and see if any of these items belong to them.

Be prepared

Parents, please also remind your students to have everything they need for the day- chromebooks, homework assignments, lunch, and athletic clothing for after school activities. Thank you!
