The Impact Grandchildren Can Have in Senior Care

Eldercare is typically considered the responsibility of a spouse or adult child for many families. While more millennials are becoming primary caregivers, the increasing role of adult (or even younger) grandchildren in caring for older relatives is often overlooked. The relationship between a grandparent and grandchild can have a huge impact on the overall care and quality of life for seniors.

Appliances That Promote Senior Safety and Accessibility

Some aging adults may need to use appliances with senior-friendly features that can improve their ability to remain safe and independent at home. Although it may not be practical or cost-effective to replace current appliances, we've listed several things to consider when shopping for replacements when needed.

Gadget Corner
Our Gadget Corner features unique products which have extra benefits for the senior population.*

Celebrating Our Hardworking Employees

We are so proud of our wonderful, hard-working employees who go beyond the call of duty. Below is why our Angels are so special...

Wislaine A: Wislaine is one of our loyal long-time hourly aides, having been with Visiting Angels since 2016, and is currently one of our floater aides. Through the years, she has rarely turned down an assignment and is ready for any challenge. Wislaine is an experienced caregiver and is beloved by our clients. One client nicknamed her "Smiley" because is always so happy when she's with them. Wislaine consistently returns phone calls and texts by office staff in a timely manner. She continues to increase her caregiving knowledge by asking the Director of Nursing and other office staff clarifying questions regarding our clients and other daily tasks in order to best increase the daily quality of life for those clients.

Veronica T: Veronica has been an enjoyable, effective, and attentive caregiver since coming on board our team in May 2021. Clients have commented that her care has been excellent and professional. Veronica’s professionalism shows in her client notes; the notes are incredibly detailed which allows for any nurse follow-ups to be completed. Veronica has been so dedicated to her profession and to our clients that she committed to return to work immediately following an injury. She is adept at using technology and regularly clocks in/out through our mobile app. Office staff are pleased that she is in frequent communication with the office and responds quickly to office requests.

We appreciate and thank you, Wislaine and Veronica!

THE TEXT

A man received the following text from his neighbor, saying,

"I am so sorry, Bob. I've been riddled with guilt and have to confess.

I have been helping myself to your wife—day and night when you're not around. In fact, more than you do. I do not get it at home, but that's no excuse.

I can no longer live with the guilt and I hope you will accept my sincerest apology with my promise that it won't ever happen again."

Bob, in complete shock, didn't know how to react.

A few moments later, a second text came in, saying,

"Darn spell check! I meant 'Wi-Fi'!"

COVID-19 Vaccines and Boosters Widely Available
COVID-19 vaccines are now available to everyone aged 6 months and older in New Jersey. Booster shots are also available (see CDC recommendations regarding age/doses). Pharmacies in stores such as CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, and Rite-Aid are all offering vaccination opportunities.

It's important to protect yourself, older people, and everyone you come in contact with by getting a COVID-19 vaccine and booster shot.
