Hands & Hearts Awards Celebration

Each year, Wheeler celebrates individuals and families, corporations, and foundations for helping Wheeler to provide equitable access to innovative care that improves health, recovery, and growth at all stages of life. This year, we recognized four donors: Amy Borg, donor and former foster parent; Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation; Patricia Cruickshanks, Mott Health Ambassador; and Charles J. Herbert, CFP, longtime Wheeler Trustee.

Annual Holiday Staff Breakfast Celebration

Earlier this month, we held our annual staff breakfast at the new location, Bristol Event Center. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our year, each other, and acknowledge colleagues with milestone years of service. Of special note were three recipients of Wheeler’s Anna Tedesco Award, an annual recognition for employees who exemplify our mission, values, and commitment to excellence. This year’s recipients were: Dr. Scott Berman, psychiatrist; Kim Holyst, LCSW, director, Behavioral Health, Waterbury Family Health & Wellness Center; and Sara Schoonover, Psy.D., associate director, Autism Diagnostic Evaluation Program. Congratulations on a wonderful year!

2024 Wheeler Leadership Development Program Graduation

After six months of personal and professional development, ongoing 1:1 mentorship from executive leadership, and training sessions led by a professional coach, the third cohort of the Wheeler Leadership Development Program was honored and celebrated for all their hard work. Congratulations to all of the graduates!

Holiday Gift Drive

Our Mott Health Ambassadors filled more than 200 holiday requests for children in our Foster Care programs and Amazon provided more than 30 boxes of toys for children in our care. Wheeler Trustee Myron Stewart joined our Philanthropic Giving team to rock some antlers and pick up the donation. And our friends at Americold in Plainville helped spread holiday cheer for the second year in a row by taking many holiday gift requests to fill, too. Hundreds of children will have a great holiday thanks to this amazing support. Thank you!

Applications Open For Second Class of Residents at Wheeler

Applications are open until April 2025 for the Fall 2025 class. Our primary care and psychiatry residency programs for nurse practitioners and physician assistants provide hands-on, mission-focused experience in a leading Federally Qualified Health Center with focus on community-based care provision.
