Feast of Our Lady of La Leche
This Friday, October 11, we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of La Leche. Devotion to Our Lady of La Leche – or Our Lady of the Milk and Good Delivery – began in the Roman catacombs, where Mary was depicted nursing her Divine Son. It became popular in Spain after miracles occurred from praying for her intercession.
In August 2021, the Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal dedicated a new prayer space to Our Lady of La Leche. We invite you to join us on October 11, when we celebrate this feast day at our 12:05 p.m. Mass. We also welcome you to the Basilica Shrine at any time to visit the Our Lady of La Leche Shrine, created in thanksgiving for answered prayers for family, fertility, and life.

Monday, October 7, marked the Feast of the Holy Rosary. The Rosary is the practice which Mary began in the Church as her way of continuing to make her Son known to us. When she gave this method of praying to St. Dominic, it was to be a simple way of bringing her children to pray to their Father in Heaven, adoring Him and loving Him, confident in His care and relying on His bounty and protection.
At the Basilica Shrine, our usual Monday events took on a special meaning as visitors prayed the Rosary at 11:30 a.m.
The topic of the Perpetual Novena and Holy Masses on Monday centered around Our Lady of the Rosary. Homilist Fr. Thomas McKenna, CM, discussed how the consistency and repetition of everyday behavior, such as saying the Hail Mary and the Rosary, may spill into our everyday outlooks and actions, bringing us closer to the Blessed Mother who models steady, selfless, and loving behavior.
If you could not come to the Basilica Shrine in person on Monday and would like to watch the Perpetual Novena and Mass, and listen to Fr. McKenna's homily, visit our YouTube channel to see the recording.
As a reminder, the 12:05 p.m. (ET) Perpetual Novena and Mass are livestreamed every Monday.

In every prayer lifted to Our Blessed Mother, with love and compassion she asks her Son to bestow his grace and blessings upon us. A Marian devotee recently shared with us:
“She’s with me every day. I know it was her prayers that brought me my son back from drugs. And I will forever be grateful to her for that.”
Do you have a story of favors received to share with us?
