The classrooms have each developed their own peaceful, daily rhythms of purposeful work and are moving toward "normalization". This is the term Dr. Montessori used to refer to children who are able to concentrate and work freely in the Montessori environment, exercising self-discipline and peace. It is in no way meant to suggest that children who are not able to do this are not normal. It simply means they are in a different stage of their development and personal journey. Being in a classroom that is normalized can help a child progress in his/her own development.
Creativity in the Classroom
The Sensorial materials offer opportunities to experience, notice, and categorize the incoming sensory information all around them. Once mastered, children are taught or discover extensions which allow further discovery.

Montessori Outdoor Environments

As the weather cools, and we know it will, the children will have increased opportunity to work and play outside. Playing and learning outside helps children to understand and respect nature, the environment and the interdependence of humans, animals, plants, and life cycles. The outdoor environment also offers space and can be particularly important to those children who learn best through active movement. Soon the teachers will be able to set up dedicated work spaces outdoors where children can do everything from gardening to math to reading or painting.

When packing your child's lunch, please note the following guidelines:
~choose fruits and vegetables
~add a protein
~if adding "snack foods" remember, less is more; children tend to fill up on these empty calories rather than their "growing food".
~avoid sending "gogurt" due to the tendency to spills (which stain the carpet)
~avoid sending juice/gatorade/chocolate milk at all; water is the drink of choice
