Hello again from Cuba Township. I’d like to request more summertime, please! This has been a jam-packed summer for many residents as travel eclipsed pre-pandemic levels and checked off something on their bucket list. We enjoyed an incredibly successful and generous Land We Love Run 5k/10k race through Barrington Hills on July 2nd. All 120+ runners crossed the finish line and we collectively raised thousands of dollars for Folds of Honor. Folds of Honor provides scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service members. A good time was had by all and please save the date of Saturday, July 1st, 2023, for our annual American celebration. Pictures are posted on the Village of Barrington Hills website here: Barrington Hills Event Photos - Village of Barrington Hills (barringtonhills-il.gov)
Many runners brought food pantry donations on the day of the race, and they were much appreciated. We would also like to recognize the San Filippo Foundation for their very generous recent food donation. In today’s challenging economy of escalating food prices, we know the donation will make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.
We are always trying to keep you informed and this year we have launched an initiative to bring your local elected representatives closer to you. On Friday, September 9th, 2022, we will be hosting State Senator Dan McConchie’s traveling office hours between the hours of 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. This is a great opportunity for you to ask those burning questions about what is happening in Springfield and meet Senator McConchie.
Senator McConchie and State Representative Chris Bos are hosting a kids' fair on Saturday, August 13th, from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm at the Foglia YMCA in Lake Zurich. This may be a good time to see your local representatives and get the kids involved in another fun activity before school starts.
Over the next couple of months, we have fall activities, including brush pickup, a shredding event, election day, and the return of firewood Fridays. Some events are listed below.
Please enjoy the rest of the summer, and we look forward to seeing you all soon.
All the best,
Chris Karam
