Wesleyan Three Simple Rules: Do No Harm, Do Good and Stay In Love with God
Dear Christian Friends of EPA,

Beverly and I were blessed to follow Bishop Johnson and Rev. Johnson when we began our ministry with EPA. They were gracious, helpful and caring each step of the way. A gift to us, and I know they were a gift to you while serving for 13 years in EPA. Recently the Johnsons shared with a few friends and colleagues that the Rev. Michael Johnson transitioned to Rev. Mary Johnson, and now they are sharing their story publicly.

For many this may come as a surprise and even hard to understand. One of the things we are learning and understanding better is that gender has many dimensions physiologically, emotionally and spiritually and that who we are is not as simple as our physical selves. For Mary, this was not an overnight decision but a decision made through prayer and conversation.

The following links are to articles that share the Johnsons’ story. The articles may raise questions and maybe concerns for you. All very natural. As you read the articles and discuss them with others I invite you to pray for the Johnsons and to do three things: do no harm, do all the good you can and stay in love with God. It may be the most Christ-like thing we can do.

Keep the faith!

John
