Hello everybody!
I had the opportunity to travel with three couples for a vacation to Glacier National Park in Montana last week. We were surrounded by the beauty of the Rocky Mountains, glacial valleys, perfect weather and wildlife encounters (bears, thankfully from a distance, elk, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, moose, and eagles). I find both the encounter with God’s creation and the growth of friendships nourishing to my soul and renewing for my spirit. I am grateful to Fr. Loi and all of our staff for their ministry and service in my absence. I concelebrated the 5:30 p.m. mass on Sunday evening with Fr. Tony and felt joy at worshiping with our community. It is good to get away and it is awesome to be home!
This weekend, I will be sharing the state of our parish as I do once each year. I look forward to this opportunity to keep you informed about the good work God is doing among us, the direction God is leading us, and the challenges we face. Our accountability report will also be mailed out to all our families soon and I am thankful to our staff that are diligent in preparing this report and communicating good information for you. We will also recognize the important contributions our catechists make to help form members of our community in our Catholic faith and grow in their relationship with God. Thanks to all who give so generously of their time and knowledge for the good of all of us who are on the journey of discipleship with Jesus!
I also want to thank Deacon Scott for his efforts organizing our meal packing event. It is a great opportunity to put our faith in action by feeding the hungry. Over 250 of you showed up and packed 30,000 meals for our brothers and sisters in 37 countries around the world. A main component of the packed meals is rice, which made Fr. Loi very happy. As he has said, “No rice, no peace.” Thanks, again, to all!
I look forward to worshiping with you for the Eucharist this weekend at all the masses. May God, who has begun a good work in us and our whole community bring that good work to completion. God bless you!
Peace,
Fr. Jeff
