“Christmas Wish List” for Communities Supporting Schools of Wayne County

CSS of Wayne has had a tremendous 2022! We have expanded our programs and have increased revenues and grant funding this year. We currently have aSuccess Coach program in ten schools, operate three Restorative Justice Programs (teen court, mediation, and community service), and have grown to a staff of fifteen. Our “wish list” continues to grow every year as we look at new opportunities and challenges. We are always looking for volunteers and additional resources for our programs in an effort to better serve our youth.

Wish List

  1. Mentors for every child that we work with
  2. Teen Court volunteers to help with our Restorative Justice programs
  3. More community service sites and life skills classes for our students
  4. Additional grants to help us run our programs in 2023
  5. School supplies for students
  6. Successful fundraising in the spring of 2023
  7. Successful completion in all of our programs and a reduction in the recidivism rate for youth in Wayne County
  8. Good health for our hard working board members so that they can continue to guide this organization!

Wishing you and yours a healthy and prosperous year!

Mrs. James, Success Coach at Dillard Middle School, meets with a group of eighth graders. Students will focus on academic performance, community service and volunteer opportunities, leadership development, high school preparation and college preparedness. The group will meet throughout the school year.

Student meets with his lunch buddy. This is a program that started at Carver Heights. Some of the lunch buddies and students wanted to continue working together. Shalik has lunch with his lunch buddy Mr. Stuart McMillan. Mr. McMillan has served as Shalik's lunch buddy for nearly three years.

This volunteer went to college on a full basketball scholarship. Her lunch buddy wants to be a basketball player so they got a chance one day to use the gym. What an inspiration she is to him!

Goldsboro High School had 24 students installed into the Interact Club which is part of Rotary International. This is an outstanding club that does monthly projects here at GHS and in the Goldsboro area. This club does build leaders, and GHS is proud to have such a strong Interact Club

Mt. Olive Middle School's athletic department receives a $10,000 grant from Dick's Sporting Goods!
