What You Measure, You Can Improve

tape-measure image

Business is good! What numbers should you be tracking to maximize your results?

Sales Track what you're booking to stay busy and keep cash flowing. Set a goal for each month. Power tip: set specific category goals for things that really add profits like enhancements or new accounts.

Revenue per man-hour.  It's a fast measure of productivity.  Check it weekly or monthly. Simply look at total man-hours logged and revenue billed. You'll know if you're performing to plan, or whether you need to investigate inefficiencies. If your team is working more hours and billing less for it, you need to fix it FAST!

Google reviews. The number of 5-star reviews your company achieves on Google help you two ways. First, you know you're delivering great work. Second, 5-star reviews make it much easier to attract new customers because your quality becomes visible to anyone searching for a pro.

Attendance. Every contractor has issues with no shows. Re-configuring crews and missing project deadlines are too common costly occurrences. Measuring attendance rates creates an opportunity to have conversations when needed and to offer monthly attendance awards.

Pay attention to your numbers and your business will prosper.

5 Reasons Your Website Isn't Getting You Leads

healthy-website image

It's no secret that consumers connect with professional contractors through web searches. That means your website is often your most valuable marketing tool. Why are you putting up with a substandard site? Here are five common things to fix:

Not mobile friendly. If the site is impossible to load on a phone or tablet, you're going to lose browsers.

Loading speed. If your site is slow to load, you need to address either the hosting service or the design/images. Many search engines will give you a lower rank in results just based on slow speed.

Going past the first page to get your contact information. Make sure customers can find your phone number on the main page. Near the top is best.

No contact form. During off-hours, customers want to get messages to you that you can respond to. No contact form means you don't get those messages and opportunities.

No "About Us" page Clients want to understand the company their about to do business with, so your "About Us" page will get visited more often than you might think. Rather than an impersonal biography, think about telling the story of your journey in business and commitment to the industry. Be sure to introduce your team, your qualifications, what you do differently, and more.

Transform Landscapes with the WAC Colorscaping System

WAC-colorscaping image

WAC debuts Colorscaping, a patented smart lighting and control system that transforms outdoor spaces into a wonderland of illumination using tunable and full-color spectrum LED technologies with new and existing landscape lighting.

Fixtures are easily controlled with your favorite control system (like Alexa), the MyWAC app or the WallStation, allowing you to create scenes, schedule operations, and set up dynamic scenes.

Signal is carried on the 2-wire path to each Colorscaping fixture from the Colorscaping transformer. It identifies each fixture and location so the luminaire can be added, changed or paired with the push of a button. Control both Colorscaping and legacy fixtures on the same transformer.
