FIRST FRIDAY EXPOSITION AND ROSARY Friday, October 1 is the First Friday of the month. We will have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament following the 8:00am Mass, and continuing until 12 Noon, with the rosary at 11:30am. All are welcome to join in all or part of this time of quiet prayer in the presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.

YOUTH MINISTRY REBOOT On Sunday, October 17, after the Noon Mass, Youth Ministry will host a safe and social barbecue to kick off a year of youth ministry activities. If you are 13-18, please join us to meet Cathedral parishioners your own age, hear about social and service opportunities at the parish in the coming year, and enjoy a hot dog or hamburger. RSVP requested, though not required. Information or to RSVP, David Buchholz, youth@stjames-cathedral.org.

ACT DURING THE SEASON OF CREATION Sign the Catholic Climate Petition! Send a message to U.S. leaders. Join your voice with thousands of individuals signing the climate action petition across the U.S. Catholic community as a faith-filled appeal to President Biden and the U.S. Information, https://catholicclimatecovenant.org.

SOCKS NEEDED Each Advent, you, the parishioners of St. James Cathedral, have been profusely supportive of the Warm Hearts and Soles Sock Drive. Normally, our outreach ministries are able to have enough socks to give out through the course of the year. However, our stockpile is almost depleted. Please consider donating men’s athletic socks. Donations can be delivered or shipped to the Parish Office during the week or dropped off in the Cathedral Chapel on weekends. Thank you!

ROSARY FOR VULNERABLE MIGRANT POPULATIONS Join us in praying the rosary for vulnerable migrant populations during the month of October (https://justiceforimmigrants.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Rosary-Document.pdf). Contact us if you would like to get more involved with helping immigrants and refugees in our community. Information, Tammi Murray, tmurray@stjames-cathedral.org or 206-382-4511.

CORNERSTONE CATHOLIC CONFERENCE  The bishops of Washington State invite you to attend this virtual conference on October 30 offered in English and Spanish. Keynote addresses by Father Robert Spitzer, Gloria Purvis, Fr. Agustino Torres and Brenda Noriega. Attendees may also choose two workshops to attend. There is no charge, although donations are welcome. Registration, www.wacatholics.org/cornerstone-2021.

TOWARDS A LISTENING CHURCH Pope Francis has called for a synod of bishops on the topic of synodality—that is, the process of listening and consultation in the Church. The preparation for the 2023 Synod starts now, with listening and conversation at the parish level. There will be opportunities to share reflections in the weeks and months to come—watch the bulletin for more information! On October 17, at the 5:30pm Evening Mass, Archbishop Etienne will mark the beginning of this important time of reflection in the Church with a special Mass in the Cathedral. All are welcome.
