A Message from our VP of Academics and Ed Tech

Dear Carondelet Community,

We are just a couple weeks away from the end of Semester 2. It is hard to believe that we are almost at the halfway point for this school year! Where has the time gone?!

What may be even more shocking to families is to find out that when we return from break it will already be time for students to start thinking about the 23-24 school year. January officially launches the scheduling season! Families will start receiving the course recommendations for next year, and students will have the opportunity to attend information sessions about different course offerings and start meeting with counselors for work sessions and/or 1:1 meetings.

There are some amazing new course offerings for next year. On deck we have:

  • New Advanced Placement courses available for 10th-12th grade students:
  • AP Human Geography
  • AP European History
  • AP Art History
  • New math program options as we bring an additional, traditional Algebra 2 course into the mix
  • A new Religion Senior Selective called Women in Catholicism
  • A new English Senior Selective called Reading Lounge

Although the bulk of the work lands on your daughter’s shoulders, parents do have homework at this time of year as well. Every year a scheduling website is built for the season. It is a one-stop shop for all things scheduling. In January, I will send out an email announcing the scheduling site launch. An important step of the process will be to have parents sit with their daughters to explore the new website and get familiar with key dates and the processes that will support the optimal experience for your daughter.

I apologize in advance for my excessive presence in your inboxes next month!

Faith + Heart + Courage = Excellence,

Dr. Elizabeth Chaponot

Vice Principal of Academics and Ed Tech

Academic & Learning Support

7th Period Option for Final Exams Week

Welcome to final exams preparation! As finals can cause expected anxiety, Academic & Learning Support has a solution for students that have a 7th period class. To alleviate having three finals on one day, you are invited to register and take your 7th period final on Friday, December 16th instead of Tuesday, December 13th. This may not be necessary or appropriate for all classes, so please confirm with your teacher before Monday, December 12th. This final exam option will begin promptly at 9:00 AM and end at 10:30 AM, unless you are already approved for extended time.

If interested and approved by your teacher, please use this form to register. This will help us prepare for that day.

Please reach out to Merrilee Silveira if you have any questions. Good luck!
