We also want to honor and remember those mothers who are no longer with us — whose legacies live through their children, grandchildren, and communities.

Conscious is an educator and creator with 2.3M followers on TikTok. He's known for being a formidable debater and advocating for marginalized communities.

California Coalition for Black Birth Justice in Medicaid Report

We're excited to announce that the California Coalition for Black Birth Justice was selected by Institute for Medicaid Innovation to share our innovative work to improve perinatal and child health.


This report informs renewed urgency to address birth equity and prioritize pregnant and postpartum people, children, and families insured by Medicaid, coming on the heels of new data from the National Center for Health Statistics indicating, that in 2021, maternal deaths increased nearly 40% over the prior year.


Through profiles of innovation like ours, the report highlights numerous ways to support sustainability and expansion through clinical, research, and policy opportunities identified by national experts, as well as recommendations from community-based organizations and Medicaid health plans.


These opportunities provide an agenda for future actions, spanning stakeholders, including health plans, advocates, and state and federal policymakers, to establish strategic investment priorities centered on pregnant and birthing people, their children, and their families. Read the full report:

The Expecting Justice Free Doula Program is still accepting requests until May 8, 2023! Their trained Doulas will provide free doula services to expecting mamas and parents in San Francisco. Free Doula services include prenatal support, labor and delivery as well as postpartum care.

Webinar on May 9: The Next Step - Integrating Midwives, Doulas, and Community-Based Care

This webinar series discusses doctors, doulas, midwives, and the potential for team-based care - a key tool in the quality improvement toolbox. As detailed and cited in the recently addended version of the Toolkit to Support Vaginal Birth and Reduce Primary Cesareans, research shows team-based care improves quality and safety, enhances the patient experience, and allows for diverse patient needs to be met by a diverse care team with varied strengths and specialties.
