"Blessing of the Animals"
Rev. Jaimie Dingus
10:45 AM
Joining us in our interdependent web of existence are animals who bring love, humor, and wisdom to our lives. Whether these creatures are big and small, wild and domestic, loved up close or appreciated from afar, they are a special part of the world we share. In this service, we bless the animals who currently enrich our lives or whose memory continues to impact us. Please send photos of an animal that you would like to recognize to minister@uuch.org. Please send photos by 6:00 pm Friday.
|
IN-Person Animal Blessing:
Join Rev. Jaimie & Clementine in the grass between the UUCH parking lots after the service for a special Animal Blessing @ 1pm. All pets are welcome to join, though if your pet lives in a tank or would be very unhappy being around other animals feel free to bring a picture instead. The blessing itself will be a quick 10-15 minute ceremony, but feel free to stick around after for socially distant socializing and fun time meeting each other's pets!

Share the Plate Week
Sunday, October 3 – Saturday, October 9
All plate donations will be split between the church and the chosen charity.
The social justice Share the Plate selection is currently AshaKiran. AshaKiran was started to help foreign-born individuals experiencing crises, such as human trafficking, sexual assault, and domestic violence throughout the state of Alabama.
They work to support people in these communities to overcome barriers such as language, cultural and/or religious stigmas through education, empowerment, and providing culturally-sensitive services. Founded in 2006 by Bhavani Kakani, AshaKiran now offers services in over 50 languages. Through a variety of free, confidential, culturally-sensitive programs and initiatives, AshaKiran provides a “ray of hope” toward building a more healthy and harmonious community.

“New UU” Class
October 16th and October 23rd
10:00 AM – 11:45 AM
What does it mean to be a Unitarian Universalist? Join Rev. Jaimie, the Adult Religious Education Committee, and the Membership Committee as we offer a two-part series that explores important themes in UU congregational life.
We will discuss our worship and theology, history, covenant and polity, faith development, social justice, and membership. This program is particularly focused on introducing newcomers to UUCH, but those of you who have been here for a while will also be able to share and connect with others as we explore our own beliefs and how they intersect with the UU tradition. Everyone is welcome!
Mark your calendars now for the Saturday mornings of October 16th and 23rd at 10:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. for this chance to learn, share, and be together. We will meet via Zoom, and we ask people to register to prepare for the number of participants. Contact Adult.RE@uuch.org to register or if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you there!

If you have already set up a login for GivePlus+, it will work on Vanco Mobile.

This Sunday at Our Circle of Candles:
Suzey and Deb Delacey lit a candle of joy and of sorrow: Joy for Amanda Schuber who was welcomed into preliminary fellowship this week. Sorrow for the Bollinger's loss of a family member. They ask for thoughts for their family as they go through some difficult medication changes.
Trao (he/they) lit a candle of joy: Shared our giving spirit in outreach to hurricane victims in New Orleans last week.
John and Jessica Schulz lit a candle of sorrow: for the death of their daughter-in-law Joni's father, Dave.

Cheri Smith lit a candle of healing: for the recovery of her eye.
We offer a special congratulations to the recipients of their booster vaccine this week:
