The Thirteenth International Evolving British Object Relations (EBOR) Conference is a virtual event spanning two weekends: October 8 & 9, 2022 (individual papers) and October 15 & 16, 2022 (plenary presentations).
We invite colleagues to submit a paper on the theme of Truth and Lies for possible inclusion in the conference. Full-length original unpublished papers of up to 5,000 words will be peer-reviewed and six papers will be chosen for presentation. Selected papers will be presented by the authors during the first weekend of the conference.
Bion observes that truth is to the mind what food is to the body. When the truth about reality cannot be faced, meaning is lost. Paradoxically, Bion suggests only lies require a person to think them. Furthermore, that lies are used to escape an emotional disaster. Since truth is an essential component of successful analysis, we invite papers that address questions such as:
- How do we define emotional truth?
- What differentiates truth from lies in the clinical situation?
- Can we analyze a liar?
- Are illusions lies?
