Pastor's Message
Swim, Support and the Power of Cheering

These are my "Lane 2 Ladies." We swim together every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 5:30am in lane 2. They have become some of my closest friends over the last two years. I am so, so grateful for them.

This past weekend, these ladies participated in the Door County Half Iron Woman Triathlon and they were amazing!!!! I traveled with them as a cheerleader and support. We had joked when they had signed up that the cheerleaders would have to train just as hard as they would, which of course wasn't the case. But when it came down to race day, I felt like I was completely in on this event. The four of us who were there to cheer had a spreadsheet of estimated times, locations. I made two costume changes: puffer fish for the swim, and super hero cape for the run, all the while wearing my strong women t-shirt. I danced, I cheered, I ran alongside them through water breaks, and my bucket was filled with the strength and power of it all. My friends finished on their own time, none of them hitting their target time, but all of them accomplishing their goal of finishing. I am so proud of them!

The truth of the matter is during these last few years, when life has been hard, these incredible women have been cheering me on. Day after day, when we get to the pool, they have listened and supported me. Throughout our swims we stop and encourage each other, we share our lives and our stories, and when it is really hard we stop and go get coffee together. I don't know what I would have done throughout this last year without these wonderful women by my side.

Recently I found a song called Swim by Jack's Mannequin. This song's lyrics have become the song of my heart this week. I share them with you in thanksgiving for these women who help me to swim.
You gotta swim
Swim for your life
Swim for the music
That saves you
When you're not so sure you'll survive
You gotta swim
Swim when it hurts
The whole world is watching
You haven't come this far
To fall off the earth

The currents will pull you
Away from your love
Just keep your head above...

Swim!

You choose how to spend the day...trolley tour, lunch, shopping, ice cream, watching life go by on the river...you decide what YOU want to do! Trolley rides are at 11:00am, 2:00pm and 3:00pm for $13.00 senior price; the 11:00am may be the best time to go as a group if you are interested in doing so. If you should choose not to carpool, meet at the Trolley area at 10:30am, but please still RSVP.

Please RSVP to:
