Shorewood Public Library and the Shorewood Longevity Project present “First Friday Walks”! These 30-40 minute guided walks through the village were planned mindfully to help build community and wellness through winter, and encourage us to keep moving our bodies even when it seems that everything else has slowed down. Walks will begin at 11:30 AM and all are welcome to join! The walk is stroller-friendly, but please leave pets at home for the safety of all walkers.
Walks will be held in light rain, but if the weather is really inclement (heavy rain, ice, unsafe conditions), we will cancel. Additionally, feel free to call the library any time at (414) 847-2670 to check in on the status of the walks.
Please dress for the weather, bring water, walk at your own risk, and have fun!

New Assistant Director:
Noah Weckwerth
Shorewood Public Library welcomed Noah Weckwerth as our new Assistant Director in October 🎉🎉🎉
Noah comes to Shorewood with a wealth of public library experience and ideas for the library and Shorewood community.
Learn more about Noah below and
say hi the next time you see him at the library!
Tell us a little about your life outside of work…
- I have an affinity for British mystery shows and playing tennis. Shorewood needs more courts! What I like to do most outside of work is read; specifically, literary fiction, social science, mystery, and the occasional cookbook. Sometimes I eat pepperoni pizza and I coffee too (noun and verb).
What’s a favorite personal quote of yours?
- “Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.” (Jeff Lebowski)
What’s your favorite part of working here so far?
- Working in the library allows me to meet so many Shorewoodians, and we have such a diverse and friendly community. Every day brings a new, unexpected conversation or connection.

This month, we're sharing our favorite vinyl from our Shorewood Public Library vinyl collection ❄️ Check them out at the library! | |
Into the Shallows
The Rare Occasions
Recommended by KAYLA, who says she "cannot recommend this band enough. They're usually described as indie/alternative, but have so much versatility where no two songs sound the same. Beyond the overall hypnotizing sound of the vocals and instruments, they have some of the most beautiful writing [she has] ever come across in music."
|
Back in Black
AC/DC
"When I was a kid, my dad would drive us around the middle of Wisconsin in his rusted-out beater hatchback looking for water springs and wild asparagus. This cassette was always in the deck, and we’d just listen to it over and over. As an adult, I’m not much of a classic rock fan, but this one takes me back. All bangers on here, and a real education for the nine-year-old in your life."

Gemini Rights
Steve Lacy
Recommended by CAROLYN, who notes there are several folks on staff at Shorewood Public Library who enjoy this LP, and that it has a "very chill vibe a la old school r&b."
|
The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
Lauryn Hill
Recommended by KATE, who says it's "the perfect record to listen to on a quiet night in. With big hits like Doo Wop (That Thing) and Everything is Everything that will make you sing along and soulful ballads, every song is proof that Hill is one of the great vocalists of our time. Listening to her on vinyl only enhances that effect."
| Recommended by MEGAN, who loves ABBA's mix of pop and melancholy. | |
