Greetings!
Sunday was our parish dedication festival. The day was full of emotion:
A blessing of a new and sacred Gospel book, given by a parishioner.
A celebration of 10 years as a parish.
An anointing of Fr. Madanu and family, leaving for full-time ministry in Fairfax, VA.
A gathering of the faithful at a parish pic-a-nic on the lawn of our new parish building.
Ten years ago, St. Augustine's began in the living room of the Maneys with 13 faithful souls. Nine years ago, Fr. Philip, a total stranger, walked in the door of our worship space/nursing school classroom to visit. Within an hour, Fr. Kevin had Fr. Philip up at the altar, assisting in the Eucharist, and the rest is history!
Three years ago, Fr. Santosh walked in the door of St. Augustine's, a total stranger, too. In that time, with support from our parish, he was received into the diocese by Bishop Dobbs as a priest, and brought his wife, Sharon and their two children to America. We now bless them and send them on their way to serve the Lord as a family in Virginia.
Ten years ago, our imagination didn't stretch far enough to dream that our parish, under the leadership of Fr. Kevin, would be a priest-developing magnet for ministry (Fr. Gatwood, Fr. Wylie included). And we certainly didn't envision that these priests would come from the far corners of the world!
Yes, the day was full of emotion:
Tearful farewells to the Madanu family.
Gratitude to the Lord for blessing us ten times ten to do His work.
Excitement for the future of this parish in our new home.
St. Augustine's mission statement is To be changed by God to make a difference for God.
Daily, may we live out our commitment to be truly changed to serve Him individually and as a family of believers.

The Blessing of Ministries
|
|
On September 12th, those who serve in various ministries will be blessed by the priests. These ministries are various and significant to the life of our parish. If you serve as a teacher (or are a student), reader, intercessor, altar server, musician, and/or vestry member, please plan to attend...and be blessed for your work in the coming year.

Thank you for your prayers!!! We passed the electrical rough in for the panels and should be able to get the North wing of the building energized this week.

American Heritage Girls (AHG) Troop OH2808 is excited to begin its 4th year as a ministry of St. Augustine’s Anglican Church! We’ve grown again! The Troop has increased to serve 26 girls members (between the ages of 5 and 13) and and has enlisted the help of 17 parents to partner in leadership positions and as mentors for the program. Our new Troop Coordinator, Amanda Novosel, has been in contact with at least six more families with multiple daughters who’re interested in having their girls in the program as well.
This past year, AHG girls participated in over 240 hours worth of service, either through Troop opportunities or with their families, collectively earned over 80 badges, and had five girls earn Unit Awards for their program level. Four of our youngest girls spent a half-week at an AHG-sponsored southwestern Ohio regional summer camp, Greater than Rubies, in Amelia, Ohio, completing badge work, fostering friendships and even participating in "Meet the AHG Founder" events!
American Heritage Girls is a Christ-centered leadership development program, dedicated to the mission of building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country. Through scouting-like principles, the girls will experience a wide array of opportunities to gain new skills and live out their faith in Christ.
We’ve got a full schedule this year, including a fall camping trip, participation in the national Operation Christmas Child program, a STEM badge day opportunity, two new religious discipleship programs ('Bible Belles', for our younger girls, and a Proverbs 31 study for our Junior High girls called, ‘The Heart of Womanhood’) and any number of fun multi-troop events. The National program theme this year is “LIVE FREE”, 2 Corinthians 3:17.
Our next big upcoming Troop event is participating in the AHG National Day of Service in September, in which we give back to our community and honor our charter. The girls are hopeful to do some groundskeeping work over at our new building, beautifying the yard and flowerbeds.
Of course, American Heritage Girls isn’t just for girls and their parents; the national organization always needs your prayers- and your talent! If you feel called to be part of an amazing ministry that works with girls to help them become smart and capable servant-leaders in a safe and Christ-honoring organization, AHG may be for you. Whether it’s leading part of a badge, or conducting an entire badge workshop, or serving as a friendly face to welcome Troop members to our sign-in table, the Troop is always in need of partners to help the ministry grow.
Take a few moments to check out the AHG website, the Statement of Faith, and discover how you can be a part of the growing, national AHG ministry for girls. Central Ohio is home to 13 AHG Troops, which impact over 500 girl and adult members in the area.
On a personal note, I’ve been a part of AHG for going on nine years now, and couldn’t be more excited of how much I’ve grown in Christ, and how proud I am as I have watched Dora grow in her own faith and abilities. Recently, I’ve been selected to serve as the Columbus Area Coordinator for AHG in Central Ohio. I’m thankful and excited for this opportunity to reach more girls and families in the region to help raise awareness and help facilitate AHG’s ministry program to a greater audience.

Two Financial Paths to Support St. Augustine's
|
|
St. Augustine's has established a brokerage account with Tims Salzler at US Brokerage, Inc. With this benefit, you can transfer stock directly to St. Augustine's, and you will not pay tax. St. Augustine's gets the full benefit of your gift.
As a part of our contribution to the building fund, the Maneys transferred Apple Stock through Tim, which he then sold through his company and deposited the funds in the church's bank account. For those who can, this is an easy way to give to our building project.
If you are interested in this method of giving, you may contact Tim at work at 614.485.1189. (Email Fr. Kevin if you want Tim's cell number.)

For many, electronic giving is the preferred method for donating to St. Augustine's. We have been using E-Giving for several years now.
As our financial needs with a new building have grown, we decided to find a less expensive way to provide this service (E-Giving charges 3% for every electronic transaction).
Venmo is a secure money-transfer app that is free and easy to use. When you send money using Venmo, it costs you nothing, and it costs the recipient nothing.
To start using the Venmo mobile app, simply download the app from your App Store or Google Play. You can find the set-up process here: https://help.venmo.com/hc/en-us/articles/209690068-How-to-Sign-Up. Venmo is also available for desktops. When you get the app connected to your bank account, find St Augustine’s by searching for “St Augustine Anglican Church”. The profile picture for that account is a photo of our new sign out front of our new building.
When you transfer funds the first time, the app may prompt you to enter the last four digits of the phone number associated with the RECIPIENT’S account. At this step, enter the numbers “8426”. If you’d like, you can send a small amount of money as a test, and our eminent Treasurer will confirm that you’re sending the money to the right account. If you need help with the app, please contact Dr Bethany Christiansen, our senior warden, by clicking here.
If you are not ready to set up Venmo, you can give the old-fashioned way: write a check! That works very well for the Lord, too!

Worship Information and Location
|
|
We continue to meet at 1000am in Ballard Hall at Central College Presbyterian for Sunday's services.
|
|
As you know, we changed worship spaces at Central College Presbyterian several weeks ago. Now we are worshipping in Ballard Fellowship Hall, where we will remain for the next bit until our new home is ready for worship. Thank you, Presbyterians for sharing your church's valuable gathering space with us for a season!
A recent visitor shared that our directions to Ballard were a bit confusing, so we have fine-tuned them. You can find the information on our website and here. Please share with your friends.
Our Sunday worship service begins at 10:00am.
