Be a VITA Volunteer
For the past three years, the International Rescue Center's Dallas office has run a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to provide free tax filing services for individuals and families. We would love to invite members of the TXCPA to join us as volunteers in assisting low-income community members with completing their taxes at no cost during the upcoming 2024 Tax Season. Please see additional information below:
Why VITA?
VITA is an IRS and community-sponsored program designed to assist low to moderate income taxpayers with the preparation of their annual tax returns at no cost. In 2024, IRC VITA sites served over 1,000 community members, helping them access over $2 milling in refunds.
What is required?
· No previous experience needed
· Training and certification provided
· In-person availability of 3+ hours/week from January 29 – April 15, 2025; location TBD, but expected to be in the Vickery Meadows area of Dallas (near NorthPark Mall)
· Desire to provide community members with a safe alternative to high-fee tax preparation services and predatory lenders
How to join in?
Use the links below to learn more about volunteer roles and to sign up:
· Volunteer Tax Screener
· Volunteer Tax Preparer and Quality Reviewer
· VITA Intern
We hope you will consider joining us for VITA!
