There's also a Kids' Zone with games and activities, as well as live music and other entertainers. Bring the whole family out for this fun weekend event!
Cumming Farmers Market Makes Big Move
The Cumming Farmers Market will begin a new chapter in its history this month. Sept. 28th will be the final day for the market to be held in the Cumming Fairgrounds Parking Lot #3. Normally, the end of September would mark the end of the market for the year; however, this year, the Cumming Farmers Market will continue. Beginning on Oct. 1st, the market will relocate to the Cumming City Center and will now be open year-round!

The market's new schedule at the City Center will be:
  • October to May - 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturdays only
  • June to September - 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturdays and Wednesdays

All vendors at the Cumming Farmers Market will continue to be local to Forsyth and nearby counties, and products will still have to be homegrown or handcrafted. Click here for a list of vendors and their products coming to the fall City Center Farmers Market. "Our vendors can't wait to bring their foods and other products to the Cumming City Center Farmers Market this fall," said Randy Gazaway, the market manager. "We are overjoyed to see our loyal customers, as well as lots of new faces, at the City Center!"
August City Council Recap
During the August Regular City Council Meeting (the August Work Session was cancelled), City Council took the following actions:

  • Approved the second lowest proposal from Bone Dry Roofing Co. for a roof-coating system at the Cumming Aquatic Center. The second-lowest bid was chosen over the lowest bid due to the fact that the lowest proposer was not certified to use the product desired, and Bone Dry Roofing will provide a 15-year warranty.

  • Approved an Alcoholic Beverage License Application for the sale of malt beverages and wine for consumption on the premises at Old Harbor Seafood Kitchen, located at 911 Marketplace Boulevard, Suite L.

  • Approved a Conditional Use Permit for Bernadette’s Hair Salon, Inc., located at 512 Dahlonega Street, to allow a personal services establishment in the Office Professional Zoning, as well as a variance to allow six off-street parking spaces above the maximum for a total of 17 spaces.

  • In two 4-1 votes, each with Councilman Christopher Light opposed, approved two annexation requests for adjacent properties at 1425 and 1435 Pilgrim Mill Road.

  • Approved the low proposal from The Dickerson Group for an emergency repair to a culvert on Sanders Road.

  • Authorized the Department of Utilities to purchase a small tract of property needed to locate the Smithdale Heights Water Booster Station and Elevated Water Storage Tank.

  • Authorized Mayor Troy Brumbalow to sign all necessary documents to allow the Atlanta Gas Light Company to encroach on the City’s sewer line easements on parcels of land lying in Land Lots 614, 615, 682 and 754 of the 3rd District, 1st Section, Forsyth County.

'80s Horror Comedy Lands at School Street
A campy, 1980's cult classic hits the School Street Playhouse stage this month. "Little Shop of Horrors" tells the zany tale of a down-on-his-luck plant shop employee whose life seems to change for the better when he discovers a unique, talking plant. However, that luck takes a very bad turn when the plant - dubbed Audrey II in honor of the employee's secret, co-worker crush - reveals a taste for much more than just water, sunlight and fertilizer! "Little Shop of Horrors" runs Thursdays-Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. from Sept. 9th through Oct. 2nd. Click here to purchase tickets.
'Hot Summer Nights' Art Show Continues
The Cumming Arts Center “Hot Summer Nights” exhibit is in full swing and runs through Oct 1st. Holiday Closure: Labor Day
Cumming City Hall and most other non-essential City of Cumming departments and facilities will be closed on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5th.
