Sermon Text: Ephesians 6:10-20
Sermon Title: "Trust The Process"
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. 15 As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. 16 With all of these, take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints. 19 Pray also for me, so that when I speak, a message may be given to me to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it boldly, as I must speak.

Scripture Reader: Gina Pruitt
Praise & Worship

Prelude: "Morning Hymn" arr. by Michael Helman

Opening Hymn: "It Is Well with My Soul" #561 (v1,4)

1 When peace like a river attendeth my way,
when sorrows like sea billows roll,
whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well with my soul.

[Refrain:]
It is well (It is well) with my soul (with my soul),
it is well, it is well with my soul.

4 May God haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
the clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
the trump shall resound and the Lord shall descend,
even so, it is well with my soul. [Refrain]

Special Music: "Draw Me Close to You"

Closing Hymn: "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms" #560

1 What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
leaning on the everlasting arms;
what a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
leaning on the everlasting arms.

[Refrain:]
Leaning (leaning on Jesus), leaning (leaning on Jesus),
safe and secure from all alarms;
leaning (leaning on Jesus), leaning (leaning on Jesus),
leaning on the everlasting arms.

2 O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,
leaning on the everlasting arms;
O how bright the path grows from day to day,
leaning on the everlasting arms. [Refrain]

3 What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
leaning on the everlasting arms?
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
leaning on the everlasting arms. [Refrain]

Postlude: "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms"

The shelter has a year-round
list of needs that are always appreciated!

They're especially short on men's deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors & socks. Food items: canned meats, #10-size canned fruits/vegetables & applesauce.

Please sit your donations under the shelter, next to FCC's parking lot,
at the set of double doors with a mailbox.

Proverbs 31:8-9
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Christian Action Ministry

Hello Fellow Christians!

Another month of summer heat shows no relenting in the temperatures and there is no relenting in the fact that people still need help with food and food related goods for their families. Several years ago, Crisis Control Ministry looked at their client food order and decided to make it as healthy for their clients as they could. This decision spilled over from just food items to how they might be prepared in the healthiest way. So, for the Month of August, they chose COOKING OIL. There are many types on the market but I would think that VEGETABLE, CORN OR CANOLA would be best.

Ron and I delivered your PB &J to the Ministry’s food donation center this past Monday. The trunk of our car was filled to the brim with all the gifts you chose to share. Your generosity shows First Christian Church is “Putting faith into action” just like our T-Shirts say. Please continue doing what you are doing for all the people who are in need and you will make days brighter for CCM’s clients and for yourself as well !

Blessings, my Friends!
