Family and Future makes wholesome treats you can feel good about bringing home to your loved ones. All of our chocolate bars, nut butters and fudges are organic, dairy free, sweetened without cane sugar, and made completely from scratch. Steven Lambeth started this business so he could still eat sweets while on a restricted diet and has since grown with a vision of both supporting starting a family with his wife and wanting to align with a more sustainable future. We only use fair-trade cacao to support more ethical food systems and, when possible, use compostable or reusable packaging to help minimize waste.

Full Flower Herbs

Full Flower Herbs offers a small batch line of tinctures, herbal extracts, salves and other herbal goodness, sourced locally whenever possible and thoughtfully formulated to address common health concerns. Established in 2014, Full Flower Herbs is owned and operated by Lindsay Perry. The vast majority of our ingredients are sourced from small, local and regional farms, Lindsay’s home garden in Durham, and wild harvesting, with some herbs sourced from Organic suppliers. We especially love to work with weedy and abundant plants—it’s truly magical to work with these generous ones.

Reciprocity and care for Earth and the Medicine Plants is at the center of our practice. We think that this makes our medicine more effective, and it ensures that, as we heal, Earth heals too. We are honored to make medicine for you.

Fruchtenicht Honey

A bees nose is represented by two jointed antennae covered with fine hairs. It’s much more than an olfactory device; its a Swiss army knife of sensors. The hairs serve to both smell, perceive sound by the vibrations of the hairs, sense electrical charges, carbon dioxide concentration, touch, temperature, wind speed, and function in proprioception (balance).

Much of a bee’s life is conducted in the hive so the ability to communicate with pheromones, sense vibrations, construct honey comb, and feel the movements of her fellows in a crowd in total darkness requires many sorts of sensors. And outside the hive the antennae sense windspeed which is important for navigation and also detect the many different odors of flowers. An impressive tool box.

Piedmont Microgreens

Piedmont Microgreens is an indoor farm located just four miles from the farmer's market! We specialize in microgreens, which are the youngest stage of vegetable crops. Microgreens are great because they're beautiful, tasty, and packed with nutrients. We will be bringing the following microgreens to the market: sunflower shoots, pea shoots, nutrition mix, salad mix, a farmer's choice, and a few specialty varieties, like cilantro, dill, and onion! The nutrition mix is a blend of broccoli, cabbage, and kohlrabi microgreens, while the salad mix is a blend of sunflower shoots, buckwheat, and kale microgreens. The farmer's choice will be a revolving blend of what inspires us each week.

Terra Clotha

This tote that brings together two elements from Durham’s history. The bull on the outside pocket is loosely modelled on the “Genuine Bull Durham Smoking Tobacco” image created by J.R Green and brought to worldwide fame by W.T. Blackwell, who put it on billboards and on the sides of buildings. On the side of the tote opposite the pocket is a pattern based in the sidewalk bricks of Richard Fitzgerald, a Durham-based African-American entrepreneur of the late 19th and early 20th centuries (He was the great uncle of Pauli Murray.) This tote is perfect for books or papers or (the appropriately padded) laptop. If that’s too small, we have other totes, including one that will carry a small load of groceries, and one canvas bag that will hold even more groceries.

And...

It’s time to sign up for our 2023 CSA! Join us for a fresh, colorful, nutritious future bounty.

What is a CSA? CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It is a farming model based on developing a direct relationship between farmers and their community. A weekly box of lovely seasonal veggies ( and strawberries!) is the glorious result. This is an opportunity to support a farmer by purchasing in advance the most seasonal and successful crops available while acknowledging that some crops will not always work out with the endless variables at play. The good news is, we grow so many different things you may never notice our secret failings.

The CSA will run April 12th through July 26th (16 weeks). Like last year, we are offering a Home Delivery option and 2 pick up sites in Durham (West Durham and South Durham). Go to our website to see pricing and learn more- www.lilfarm.com. We would love to have you! Please share the info with anyone who would be interested.

Thank you and take care,

Lily and George

Lyon Farm

We are a family owned and operated fruit and vegetable farm. Whether it is pre-picked items to shop for or pick your own berries, we offer a variety of produce for everyone's needs. Open seasonally during the summer months.

Chapel Hill Creamery

We think summer is coming, so it's time to pull out your grill for burgers or your favorite sausage.

PASTURED BEEF: Our beef is known for its flavor and we have Ground Beef on special at 2 packs for $13.00. Make chili, cheeseburgers, or tacos. Beef kielbasa is also available and it has a little pork added for extra flavor. Simmer the kielbasa gently as it is firmer since it is smoked. Serve on a bun or serve with greens on polenta.

WHEY FED PORK: Pork Chops are available in a thick or thin cut, and our customers love them! Butt Roasts, sausages, Bacon, ground pork, and Smoked Ham hocks are also available. Check our board for any other cuts we may have. Grill some Bratwurst, add Chorizo to beans, or use Hot Italian in spaghetti sauce.

FARMHOUSE CHEESE: Hickory Grove, Carolina Moon, a few New Moons, Dairyland Farmers’ Cheese, Hot Farmers, and Calvander are available. Farmers' cheese is a good addition to crackers, salads, or a sandwich with tomatoes or radishes and fresh greens. Each cheese we make is distinctive in how it's made, the texture, and the flavor. Pick up two to serve for appetizers if you’re having a gathering.

Honeygirl Meadery

Honeygirl Meadery is an award-winning urban meadery in the heart of downtown Durham NC specializing in small batch seasonal meads. We ferment honey and local fruits, flowers and herbs to create delicious, nuanced, food-friendly mead. Every week we bring out a mix of our hand-crafted mead styles, so there is something for everyone!

We’re bringing warm vibes with us with Mango and Hopped Mango this weekend! We have three different traditional meads right now: Orange Blossom Mead, made with 100% orange blossom varietal honey. Farmhouse Wildflower Mead featuring NC wildflower honey from a single apiary in St. Paul, NC. Lastly, Avocado Blossom Mead, made from 100% avocado blossom honey from Mexico. This varietal honey is described as molasses without the bitterness; the resulting mead is dark, rich, and complex with notes of chocolate, coffee and raisins.

All our traditional meads are aged in stainless at least 9 months to express their particular honey notes.

We’re bringing some juicy meads this week. Strawberry Mead, Blackberry Crumble Sparkling Mead, and Ginger Peach Sparkling. and are perennial favorites that go with everything.

We are happy to make recommendations for you in person at the market. You can also pre-order online from our entire line-up, and we will bring your pre-order to the Market for you. PLEASE NOTE: Pre-orders for DFM pickup must be placed by 6:00pm on the Friday before the Market. Simply select Durham Farmers Market as your pickup location when you place your order.

Loaf

Located in the heart of downtown Durham, NC, Loaf focuses on hearth baked sourdough breads and pastries. What started out of a backyard brick oven, as a hobby to share with friends and neighbors, very quickly grew to a stall at the Downtown Durham Farmers Market, and settled as a brick and mortar shop in 2011. Throughout the years Loaf has expanded it's offerings, and partnered with local growers, and makers to provide you with as many seasonal treats from right here in the NC Triangle.

Hurtgen Meadows

Ready...Set...PLANT!! We will bring another van full of plant starts for your home gardens including heirloom and hybrid tomatoes (bigs, slicers, salad, cherry and sauce), hot and sweet peppers, cucumbers, eggplant, and summer squash, along with herbs -- basil, sage, dill, garlic chives, regular chives, cilantro, flat leaf and curly parsley, lavender, thyme, oregano, and flowers (blue ageratum and marigolds). All of the varieties we sell are grown successfully in full sun on our farm and should do well in your gardens. It's helpful to bring your boxes or containers to transport them home.

This week we highlight our beautiful early peony bunches, pesticide-free strawberries and greens -- tender salad bowl lettuce mix, chard, kale, green garlic and green onions.

Our online store is open for pre-orders Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. through Thursday at 8:00 p.m. (hurtgenmeadows.com/order). As always, you can recycle your 8 ounce glass jam jars and metal rings with us. Thank you!
