The Children's Trust Announces

Remind Those You Serve to Join The Trust's Youth Advisory Committee *

It's officially the Youth Advisory Committee's (YAC) recruitment season in August and September.


What is the YAC?

  • The YAC is a youth development program available exclusively to Miami-Dade County high school students that allows participants to explore leadership, service and advocacy. The YAC also provides eye-opening community service opportunities. 


What are the benefits of joining the YAC?

9th through 12th grades are given the opportunity to:


  1. Earn an abundance of community service hours
  2. Develop a service-learning project, with funds provided by The Children’s Trust.
  3. Participate in local fieldtrips to meet local community leaders and experience Miami-Dade communities
  4. Participate in a trip to the Capitol in Tallahassee during Florida Children’s Week to meet legislators and experience the political process.
  5. Gain strong leadership and teamwork qualities that will last a lifetime.

YAC's Environmental Resiliency Youth Summit on Sept. 28 at FIU *

Encourage those you serve to participate in the YAC Environmental Resiliency Youth Summit on Sept. 28, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., at FIU College of Engineering & Computing, 10555 West Flagler Street, Miami, FL 33174. The summit will include a film festival competition, interactive workshops, upcycled art, exhibits, tours, community service hours, food and more. Register below.

YAC Film Festival *

Encourage those you serve to join YAC Film Festival for the Environmental Resiliency Youth Summit by submitting a 3-5 minute documentary video on the marine or conservation topic of their choice for a chance to win a prize. The film festival is open to all high schoolers and middle schoolers in Miami-Dade. Videos must be submitted by using QR code by Sept. 7. Videos will be shown at summit. Details below:

Injury Prevention Trainings *

Childhood injury prevention capacity-building efforts facilitated by the Public Health Trust's Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Miami are offered to all Trust-funded providers in person and via Zoom. Advocacy Network on Disabilities' Reading Difficulties & Dyslexia Trainings

New Course! Reading Difficulties and Dyslexia: This interactive course increases after-school providers’ awareness of how reading difficulties and dyslexia may impact students’ academic performance and affect their behavior. By increasing understanding, after-school staff may recognize “this child may not be doing their homework because they have a condition that interferes with their ability to read, rather than having a behavior problem." Local resources are provided as well as simple strategies to help students with reading challenges.

All Kids Included - Accessible Arts Experience for Kids

This week, we are featuring Trust-funded All Kids Included – Accessible Arts Experiences for Kids (AKI). AKI promotes inclusive arts and cultural programs in school settings and throughout the community so that kids of all abilities and their families can participate fully in the arts. AKI’s purpose is to increase the number of quality arts experiences accessible to children with disabilities and their families, and to promote the benefit and importance of inclusionary arts and cultural programs both in school settings and the community. William T. Grant Foundation Institutional Challenge Grant Applications Open

The purpose of this program is to support university-based research institutes, schools, and centers in building sustained research-practice partnerships with public agencies or nonprofit organizations in order to reduce inequality in youth outcomes. Eligibility is limited to tax-exempt organizations. Eligible organizations include university-based research institutes, schools, or centers. Award Ceiling: $650,000.

The purpose of the TD Ready Challenge is to support innovative approaches to supporting underserved small business owners to develop a business, launch a new business, or grow an existing business. This program encourages applicants to present novel strategies, technologies or partnerships that have the potential to disrupt systemic barriers for underserved entrepreneurs with the goal of cultivating a more inclusive and supportive entrepreneurial landscape across North America. Eligibility is limited to U.S. charitable and not-for profit organizations which meet the following criteria: have received Section 501(c)(3) determination from the Internal Revenue Service (the "IRS"); or are treated by the IRS as an organization that is not a private foundation as described in Sections 509(a)(1),(2) or (3) of the Internal Revenue Code (the "IRS Code"); or are a local/state government organization. Available Positions at The Children's Trust

Program Manager- $61,565.02 Annual

The position manages the full life cycle of assigned funded program(s) and services located throughout Miami-Dade County. This person requires occasional non-traditional work hours (weekends and evenings) and reliable transportation. This professional position will support the Programs Management Team in implementing strategies that foster collaboration among internal and external stakeholders to ensure services are delivered in accordance with The Children’s Trust standards and latest evidence-based practices. S/he is responsible for utilizing change management, knowledge, skills, and behaviors to promote continuous quality improvement throughout the assigned contracts and projects. This person will be assigned a caseload of contracts and may serve as initiative/project lead. The attached exhibits include additional responsibilities for the Program Manager leading our Metrics and PPD efforts.


Communications and Community Engagement Coordinator

The Communications and Community Engagement (CE) Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Director of Communications with the general administration of communications projects, vendor agreements and purchase orders. Work performed by the Communications & Community Engagement Coordinator includes but is not limited to researching and obtaining bids for services or purchased goods, monitoring agreements and their terms of services, scopes of work and quality of final product, goods or service to ensure high level output. The incumbent has latitude to make informed decisions and recommendations regarding vendor and/or materials selection; and prepares reports for the department and executive management.

Child Family Specialist *

The Child Family Specialist is responsible for cases assigned by a clinical supervisor, maintains a caseload of 15-20 families and schedules home visits for intake & assessments. The position also completes initial assessment & treatment plans & reviews and provides in home parenting & mental health consultation, as part of a team with a Success Coach for care coordination. Requirements: Master's degree in social work, mental health counseling or other related fields; bilingual English & Spanish or Creole; licensed eligible. Email below for more information.


Success Coach *

Success Coach provides intensive home-based services to create a success plan, make referrals, facilitate access to services and monitor to ensure that all components of success plan may be accomplished. The position will also receive cases assigned by program manager & maintains a caseload of 15-25, schedules home/community visits with families for intake and assessments.
