CASA of Tarrant County is determined to make normalcy a priority for children in foster care. One small way we have done just that is by ensuring every child is given an opportunity to be celebrated on their birthday.

Since September 2019, CASA of Tarrant County has partnered with Urban Air Adventure Parks to provide free birthday parties to children in foster care. Since then, they have provided over 40 birthday parties for foster children ages 3 and up. Read more.

January was National Slavery and Human Trafficking Awareness month, when we bring our focused attention to the people who are affected by this epidemic, and what we all can do to help solve it. Young people in foster care are especially vulnerable to human trafficking, particularly in the form of commercial sexual exploitation—the formal verbiage called child sex trafficking. Read more.
"I've always believed that when a child enters foster care, it's up to the community--and not just the courts and professional agencies--to walk alongside the child. CASA provides everyday people the opportunity to do that." Read more about Andrew

Advocate, Mark Skaggs, planned a surprise birthday party for one of the kids on his case. The brothers hadn’t seen each other in-person since they were removed over the summer. They live about 2 ½ hours apart right now and Mark was able to coordinate the younger brother getting transported to the older brother’s group home. He had a cake and party room ready. Their OCOK specialist was able to attend too and it was all a surprise up until his brother arrived.” – Child Advocacy Specialist, Natalie Alfandre

Mark said, “The boys were thrilled to see each other after so long apart, and we had a wonderful time celebrating the oldest's 14th birthday.”
Katrina Dumler: “Hi! My name's Katrina and I'm a CASA intern from Mercer Island, Washington (an island just outside of Seattle). I'm currently a sophomore at TCU studying Political Science and English with plans to go to law school after I graduate. Some of my passions include reading foreign novels, travel, and language (I'm learning Japanese right now because I'm hoping to live in Japan some day!). I chose CASA because doing volunteer work that benefits children is another one of my passions. Children represent a demographic that is so important not only for the future of this country but the world, and the work that CASA does to make sure that no child is left out of this future I believe is so important. I feel so proud to be working with an organization that aims to brighten the future of every child going through foster care and I very much look forward to my experience at CASA!"
Victoria Saucedo: "I am currently a junior political science major at Texas Christian University. After college graduation, I would like to attend law school in Texas and practice corporate law. I also want to own my own law firm and dedicate time to helping non-profit organizations with their legal needs. On campus, I am a member of the TCU Rowing Team and the Moot Court team. Aside from academics, I enjoy volunteering with CASA in my hometown and the local animal shelter."
Samantha Fanning: "I am a Junior at TCU studying Early Childhood Education and I have always wanted to be a teacher ever since I was little! I have been very involved with my sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, where I have served as this year's Fundraising Director. As Fundraising Director, I plan events throughout the year to raise money for CASA which happens to be our National Philanthropy."
