Principal's Note
I want to thank our parent community for helping students navigate the Final Exam season and work through the added stressors brought on by COVID-related issues. Our students were able to “show what they know” through a variety of assessments and activities during exam week.

Believe it or not, it is that time of year to talk about course selection for the 2022-23 school year. Friday, February 4, your ninth through eleventh grade student will receive the Course Selection booklet in their English class. Our School Counselors will be on hand to discuss some grade specific topics focused on course selection. Please note that our Course Guide is also available electronically through our school website - Badger Course Guide.

On Monday, February 7 our current ninth through eleventh grade students will meet with their period 3 teachers to discuss educational goals and select courses that move them closer to achievement of said goals. I’d ask that you take time after February 4 to discuss opportunities and classes with your student. I feel the most beneficial pages of the Course Guide (outside of a listing and description of all the classes offered) are pages 3-5. In these pages you will find college and career requirements, The Academies of Badger, and a 4-year planning guide. Creating the 4-year plan is very important to determining the sequence of courses needed to complete goals.

Registration is February 4-February 19. Our School Counselors are also available to answer questions students may have about classes specific to their needs. Encourage them to stop into the Counseling Center for assistance. Our Seniors will move to the auditorium on Monday, February 7 to discuss with the Counseling Team their next steps after graduation. This session will have information about scholarship opportunities, the importance of Semester II, and other senior-specific topics.

February is filled with student activities from performing arts to sports. Please continue to support your students by attending these events.

Scholarships
There are still several scholarships open to Seniors if they would like to apply. Senior students have been given instructions on how to access scholarships via the Badger website where information on each scholarship can be found, as well as the applications. For those Seniors planning to attend a UW school in the fall, check out some other scholarships at this link: https://uwhelp.wisconsin.edu/counselors/navigating-financial-aid/uw-system-scholarship-links/

Placement Testing
Now that many seniors are making decisions on which schools they will be attending in the fall, students should make appointments to take their placement tests. Students that are attending UW colleges will need to complete placement testing for UW Schools. To register for placement testing and for more information regarding placement testing, please visit the following website:https://testing.wisc.edu/centerpages/regionaltesting.html. For all other schools, students should reach out to their admissions department.
