Dear Friends of CIHF,

Happy New Year! As we welcome the new year we are preparing for a fresh line-up of CIHF events and news items to share. We are excited to begin another year filled with conversations and collaborations!

The CIHF team has been steadily planning the next Board Meeting and Roundtable, scheduled to take place in April. This event will bring together industry experts, academic scholars, leaders and students for engagement that will center on dealing with the greatest needs and biggest hurdles in achieving a well-rounded healthcare system.

CIHF is collaborating in the Spring to create the “Safety by Design” student charrette. Students will work in multidisciplinary, trans-institutional teams to create objects, a space, a building or an environment that will incorporate features that support a smarter, kinder, and healthier built-environment for healthy futures. CIHF board members and leaders from Johns Hopkins will vote on the finalists at our meeting in April.

In support of the high level of activity that 2022 promises, we have recently been joined by Allison DeDominick, our new program assistant.

Our Health, Hospitality and Design Industry Seminar Course will be held each Friday at 9:05 am this semester in MVR. We hope you will be able to join us. Please see below for more information!

Thank you, as ever, to our CIHF community for your continued support.

Spring Webinar and Roundtable
Workforce Challenges in Staffing and Engagement
The Spring Webinar and Roundtable will be held on Monday, April 11th (11:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.) with a welcome gathering on Sunday, April 10th (5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.). Our Roundtable will bring in participants from diverse disciplines and roles to explore problems and consider ways to solve increasingly complex puzzles related to workforce challenges—with a particular focus on senior living.

The first half of the roundtable will focus on recruitment, including broad labor trends and specific technologies that are changing the way that people work.

After lunch, we will focus on culture, especially what the world of senior living and potentially other health and wellness organizations might be able to learn from elite hospitality companies or people in the field using their hospitality backgrounds and other ideas to improve recruitment and retention. We will also consider how facility design impacts culture and process efficiency.

A discussion of possible synergies between relationship-driven and data-driven approaches to workplace culture will conclude the roundtable.
More information and panelists will be announced soon.
