Hello IIDA Indiana Community,

Like all of you, we have been monitoring the rapid uptick in COVID cases in Indiana, and we are concerned about what this means for the health and safety of our families, our communities and our industry. We are also paying attention to what this means for our planned events this fall and winter.

As interior designers, we have a responsibility to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public. Our board of directors recently voted to require masks at all IIDA Indiana Chapter in-person events for groups of 20 or more or where physical distancing is not possible. We also voted to prioritize holding our events outdoors.

After much consideration we have also decided it best to postpone the 2021 Indiana Design Expo until 2022. We want to ensure we are able to deliver an event that is not only valuable to our industry but also safe for those in attendance.

We will continue to monitor COVID rates and listen to guidance offered by the Indiana Department of Health and The Centers for Disease Control. We will, of course, also adhere to any city, county or state ordinances that may be implemented to stop the spread of COVID.

Presenter bio: John Harrington has been with Humanscale since 2005 focusing on A&D and Project Managers in California. A proponent of the environment, Humanscale’s Net Positive initiative inspired John to become a Sustainability Ambassador in 2019. A big part of John’s day revolves around educating his clients with CEUs that motivate and inspire them to make the world a better place. He lives, writes, mentors, coaches hockey and laughs with his wife and three wild kids in Los Angeles.

This event is being held 5-7pm Eastern Time and will cover IDFX, IDPX and Practicum. During the session, facilitators will provide an overall review of each section, practice review questions and answer participant questions.

4L. How long have you been involved with IIDA and why is it important to you?

KM. I have been involved with IIDA since coming back into the Interior Design industry a little over 3-1/2 years ago. For me, it was important to support our community and has been vital to growing relationships.

4L. Why is IIDA important to interior designers and the industry?

KM. IIDA pulls together passionate individuals from different backgrounds, experience levels and firms and helps to empower these individuals to become leaders in the industry.

4L.What do you hope to do with your role during your term?

KM. As the VP of Signature Events I would like to challenge our community for more involvement from people and firms that might have had limited involvement in the past. Join committees, come to events and get involved. IIDA and our events can only get better with new creative minds and ideas.

4L.Why should firms/industry manufacturers be a part of IIDA? Involvement is needed on all fronts to empower our community and to continue to attract professional and creative individuals.
