Celebrate Sunday Mass at St. Alphonsus!

Daily prayer keeps you in good relationship with the LORD, and yourself.
Invite your friends/loved ones to Mass! Sunday Mass schedule in English is at 9 AM, 11 AM, and 5 PM. Mass in Spanish is at 12:30 PM.

This Friday, Jan. 21, spend time with our Lord at our monthly Praise and Adoration in the Church at 7:30 PM! We'll spend the first 15 minutes in silent adoration, and then our musicians will lead worship in song. The hour will conclude with benediction. For more info

Fellowship, Faith and Fun! A new initiative starting on Saturday mornings. Families are invited to bring their toddlers and young kids to Festival Hall (below the church) to play and spend time with other St Al's families. Please bring any toys your kids would like to play with and enter through the West door closest to the parking lot (by the Mary Altar). Saturdays 8:30 AM-10:30 AM. This weekend St. Alphonsus prays for protection of the gift of life in solidarity with the faithful attending the annual March for Life in Washington, DC. You can also sign up for a free #FastForLife E-Book here.

The Archdiocese of Chicago has issued a statement that, in accordance with the city, masks will now be required at all liturgies, including Masses. You can read the statement here.




Men of the parish are invited to Communio, a men’s group that gathers each Wednesday evening from 8 – 9 PM in the Rectory to pray and chant Vespers (evening prayer), followed by a time of conversation and fellowship.

Next week, St. Alphonsus will be emailing out contribution statements to all parish members who made a 2021 donation for your tax purposes. If we do not have an email address (or it bounces back), a physical copy will be snail mailed out to the mailing address on file in our system. Please contact office manager Mario Serrano if you have any questions regarding your statement or if you do not receive one.

The Archdiocese has released their Pre-Cana Marriage Prep Class schedule. Couples getting married at St. Alphonsus are encouraged to utilize One in Christ, however either Pre-Cana or One in Christ fulfill the formation preparation requirement for the holy matrimony sacrament. Contact our Sacraments coordinator Kaitlin Holyk for more information about getting married at St. Alphonsus.

Join Indoor Volleyball League at St. Alphonsus
Join us for the annual St. Al’s/Catholic Sports Leagues 6-on-6 co-ed indoor volleyball league starting February 17th! Games will be played in the St. Alphonsus gym on Thursday nights from 2/17 through 5/5 and every team is guaranteed at least 8 matches. Make sure to sign up for the league at catholicsportsleagues.com by the early-bird deadline on January 31st! You may sign up either individually or with up to 2 other people. Don't miss out!

Our community continues to mourn the loss of Marty Collins, father of two AACA students.

Next Sunday Jan. 30 kicks off Catholic Schools Week. The 11 AM Mass will be a designated "Family Mass", where our parish AACA students will be involved in reading, bringing up the gifts, singing in children's choir, and more. An Ice Sculpting showcase will follow the conclusion of Mass starting at 12:00 PM. This will be in the area where the Christmas tree stood near the St. Alphonsus veranda. The ice sculpting exhibition will also take place Saturday, Jan. 29 from 4-6 PM. These events are sponsored by our friends at Lakeview Roscoe Village Chamber of Commerce.

Prove Me Wrong Speaker Series on Tuesday, February 15: Is the Church Old-fashioned About Sex? Our speaker will be Dr. Melanie Barrett, professor of moral theology at University of St. Mary of the Lake. Suggested donation of $5. For more information.

Unfortunately, due to the recent rise of Omicron and other factors, our YAM Social Team made the prudent decision to postpone the planned Speed Dating event in Feb. The hope will be to host the popular event in late April or early May. Any questions can be directed to us here.

Blood Drive at St. Alphonsus- Sunday Jan. 30
Please consider giving blood at the end of the month at St. Alphonsus! The blood drive will take place Sunday, Jan. 30 from 9 AM to 3 PM in the Festival Hall. Giving blood greatly benefits local patients and saves lives! There is a
severe blood shortage in our area. Appointments are
recommended but walk-ins are welcome. You can visit vitalant.org to make an appointment. Use the Group Code ORD00581 to bring up the drive at St. Alphonsus. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact parishioner Paul Gillespie.
 
Plans are in the works for a Youth Free Throw shooting contest, sponsored by our St. Alphonsus KoC council. This event will take place on Sunday, February 27. More details and sign-up to come!
