A message from the Board

A very warm Fall Greetings.  As I start my first year on the Aspen View Board of Directors, I continue to be so impressed with our great AVA community and so proud to be a part of it.  We have an extraordinary group of students, parents, staff, administration, and board members that continue to work together to support the school in a collaborative and positive way.

In September Tracy Popovic discussed the Boards partnership with the administration.  One important and functional way in which the Board partners with the administration, parents and staff is through the Board Committees.  These committees provide support, guidance, and collaboration with a combination of many parents, staff, teachers, administration, and several of our board members who serve on these committees as well.  There are four committees that report to the Board.

PTO (Parent Teacher Organization)- The PTO organizes, communicates, and facilitates fundraisers that align with the school’s vision while helping to achieve AVAs fundraising goals.  The PTO also works to foster and promote positive interaction among AVA parents, teachers, staff, administration, and the surrounding community.

SAC (School Accountability Committee)- The SAC’s purpose is to inform, encourage and provide opportunities for parent and community members to be involved in the planning and evaluation of the school’s instructional program and quality improvement processes.

Finance Committee- The Finance Committee has a number of established financial policies and procedures; however, the main goal is to assist the Board of Directors in fulfilling its responsibilities by advising the Board, and in certain instances by acting on behalf of the Board, on matters relating to AVA’s finance, accounting, and investment policies.

Safety Committee- This “new” Committee is getting up and running to assist with and support opportunities to further school safety, mental health, and security goals and initiatives.

For more information on these committees please visit the drop-down menu under the “Board and Committees” on the AVA website.  There are always many volunteer opportunities throughout our school, however If you are looking for possibly a different way to get involved, the PTO can always use your support and specifically our SAC and Safety committees are currently looking for additional parent, teacher, or staff support.

For SAC please reach out to Eric Lute:  elute@aspenviewacademy.org

For the Safety committee please reach out to Leanne Weyman:  lweyman@aspenviewacademy.org

It is a pleasure and honor to serve on the AVA Board and to see our school continue to thrive.  From my family to yours we wish all of you a happy and wonderful Thanksgiving break.
