Permission to Rest

Since I last wrote to you, I finished editing the third draft of my new novel, Feathers in the Sand. I had full intention to jump right into the fourth draft which will be all about shaping the story, delineating chapter beginnings/endings, and solving some problems in the story line that I haven't quite figured out yet.

And while all of that is still burbling along on the back burner of my creative mind, I have set it aside for a few weeks. I've given myself permission to rest from the process of birthing this new book. Over the years, I've learned that stepping away from a creative project is ALSO part of the process (just as long as I don't step away for too long)!

What about you? Have you ever stepped away from something you've been working on in order to get a better perspective? I'd love to hear from you!

Stay tuned for more updates about Tess and Eva Gilmore, the main characters of Feathers in the Sand. While Tess wants a "Gilmore Girls" type of relationship for herself and her daughter Eva, it's simply not happening. Why? And what does Tess need to do to make it (or something like it) happen? I'll be talking about that more next month!

Stories That Stir the Soul

Angels on Overtime, by Ann Crawford. In this whimsical romantic comedy with a DIVINE twist, Jack and Emily are two lonely hearts trudging through unfulfilling lives. Though meant to be together, life keeps getting in the way of them even meeting—that is, until their angels begin working overtime.

As the angels work behind the scenes, what actually happens behind those scenes? I loved this book and found its creativity astonishing and meaningful as well as entertaining. Highly recommend.
Greetings! Thank you for taking the time to read my newsletter and for your commitment to reading Stories That Stir the Soul. That's me to the right, at one of my favorite places in the world, Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, a few years ago. In fact, Kripalu is where Ben and Savannah meet in Dragonflies at Night (see above)!

I'm always happy to hear from you via email (just click "reply" and say hello :) I gladly reply to all questions and comments!

In between newsletters, I'll be posting more often on Instagram, my blog, and/or my Facebook Author page, so please visit me there too.

Take good care of YOU,
