Bulletin: Palmer Pyle Passes
At press time, the MAB learned that W. Palmer Pyle, former President and Founder of Northern Star Broadcasting, passed away the morning of September 30.

During his time as President of Northern Star, he built the company from 8 to 20 stations across both the Upper and Lower Peninsulas.

Pyle was inducted into the Michigan Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 2012.

When there is more information available on Palmer Pyle's passing, including memorial information, it wil be posted on the MAB website.

On September 24, Byron Allen's Allen Media Group, LLC (AMG) division Allen Media Broadcasting announced that it has completed its $70 million cash acquisition of broadcast television station WJRT-TV. Read More
Earlene McMichael to Leave WMUK
Western Michigan University's WMUK-FM (Kalamazoo) announced that veteran journalist and local Morning Edition host Earlene McMichael is leaving the station after a 9-year run. McMichael will be joining Kalamazoo Valley Community College as its Marketing Project Manager. Read More
New Radio Station at GVSU
Helping Students Gain Experience

Chicago NPR Affiliate to Acquire Newspaper
On September 29, Chicago’s NPR affiliate and one of the city’s most storied newspapers have announced intentions to merge.

The Board of Directors of Chicago Public Media, the parent of WBEZ-FM unanimously approved a non-binding letter of intent for the group and the Sun-Times to explore joining together as a local nonprofit news organization. Read More
