Wearing a Mask
The evidence for the effectiveness of wearing a well-fitting mask in slowing the spread of COVID, including the more contagious Delta variant, continues to grow. We strongly encourage students to continue wearing a mask even when they are off-campus, whether in town or elsewhere. Masking helps prevent the spread of COVID-19 to unprotected households and community members.
You can find a guide and best practices on wearing masks on the CDC website.

Grinnell College Museum of Art
|
The current exhibition, Queer/Dialogue, continues through Dec. 12, 2021.
This exhibition presents seven artists whose works enable dialogue at the intersections of identity expression. The artists represent distinct voices across a spectrum of media — drawing, painting, sculpture, textile, and film — and we present them solo and in concert in hope of creating a multidimensional dialogue using the term Queer as a catalyst.
GCMoA events are available in person. Most are also available online, as indicated:
Oct. 26: How to Write a Queer Story
Santiago Jose Sanchez, Grinnell College Mellon Fellow in fiction, will lead a generative writing workshop.
Max Mowitz, program director of One Iowa, on how gender essentialism impacts our understanding of LGBTQ artwork and the ways that it can be harmful to Trans, Nonbinary, and Gender Nonconforming individuals.
Students in Professor Daniel Oore’s Creative Music Ensemble will respond to works in the exhibition, conversing with music, art, and audience.
Help us close Queer/Dialogue and celebrate the retirement of Lesley Wright, the museum's director since its opening in 1999. Lesley has played a key role in embedding art in the life of the campus and in the community in remarkable ways. All are welcome.

Five Generations of Grinnell Women
|
Sisters Nancy Welch Barnby '61 and Jill Welch '64 slept and ate Grinnell from the time they knew what a college was. They were part of a third generation of family members to attend Grinnell.
With the arrival of Lucy Hartley ’25, Jill’s granddaughter, on campus this fall, there are now five generations of Grinnellians.
