Pastor's Message
Not Again?!

Dear Grace Friends,

I have been in denial about the seriousness of the new strand of the Coronavirus. As reports of the Delta Variant continue to make their way into the news media, I feel a little bit like a kid who has put her fingers in her ears and is shouting: “I’m not listening! I’m not listening!” But just like a child eventually must dislodge her own fingers from her ears and face reality, I am finding that I need to do the same.   There are people I know who have loved ones who are sick and hospitalized and I can no longer ignore what is happening around all of us. I am praying for healing once again.

The Coronavirus is once again spreading and causing hospitalizations and changes in policies for many companies that are now requiring vaccinations and masks are coming back. I want you to know that we are listening to the news and reports and trying to make decisions that will allow us to care for the health of our people. The whole health which includes the physical, mental, and spiritual health of our congregations and its members. Because of this, we have decided as a staff that beginning on Sunday, our staff will be wearing masks in public spaces of our building. We are not requiring anyone else to wear masks at this time. We recognize that most of us (the staff) are exposed to more people than the rest of you and out of caution and care for all of you, we have decided to make this move. Hopefully this will free you to make the best choice for you and your family providing for your holistic health and care.

With that being said, I also want you to know that we are planning for a full fall with tons of activities. Hopefully by now you have received our GraceNotes newsletter in your mailbox. I am really excited about the various options for adult faith formation and also the activities being offered for our children and youth. Please take a look at the website (www.graceandover.org) or feel free to call the church and ask for more details. Some of our registrations are already open, and other registration forms will be out soon.

Please know that we continue to pray for all of you and are here to provide care, answer questions and to do whatever we can to listen to you.

Blessings,
Pastor Joanna Mitchell
