St. Luke's Church Picnic II

We had so much fun at our last church picnic, we're going to do it again on Labor Day weekend, September 4th, after our worship service.

Invite your family and friends to join us. Plan on bringing something delicious to share. The church will again supply the beverages, burgers, and dogs.
Beginning 30-Minutes Later...Soon

The Sunday morning Worship service time will be changing to 10:00 AM as of Sunday, September 11th.

So, everyone will all have an extra thirty minutes to spend in morning devotions, having a cup of coffee, playing with the kids, or hitting the snooze-bar a few more times.

We look forward to worshipping together...just a little bit later.
"Rule of Life" Series

Sunday, September 11th,
we will begin an eight-week series on living a Rule of Life.

Each session will begin at 1:00 PM in the Sanctuary.

Fr. Dan will be leading us as we learn to develop the habits of discipleship and tools for living a Rule of Life.

Christmas is Coming!

And so is our Annual

Angel Tree Christmas Party!

Angel Tree is a ministry of Prison Fellowship that helps incarcerated parents share their love with their children while separated during the Christmas holiday.

St. Luke's will once again be hosting a Christmas Party for these children on Sunday, December 11th, so we need to start planning.

We are looking for someone who will take the point in coordinating the party and volunteers. If the Lord has put this on your heart, contact Kathy Nelson (330-221-0265) or the church office.

Our very own "Bob's Cafe" will be open this Sunday after the service. Join us for a time of fellowship, food, and refreshments.

This Sunday's Menu:

TACOS

(with all the fixin's)

Garden Salad

Desserts & Beverages

All donations cover the cost of food and extra proceeds will go to our outreach ministries.

Schools are in Session!

The Backpack Program at Copley Outreach Center needs our help in providing lunch and food items for students and families in our community.

Below is a list of the most common needs.
You can bring your donation directly to Copley Outreach Center or bring it to church. Contact the church office for more information.
Sunday Evening Youth Group

All students 7th Grade and older are invited to join Andrew beginning this Sunday evening, August 21st, to learn and experience what being a disciple is all about.

We will meet Him in the Teen Center at 6:30 PM.
Women's Group Bible Study

The concept of inheritance isn't just a subject in Scripture. It is a theme stretching all the way from Genesis to Revelation.

On Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM the Women's Group
is participating in a bible study from Beth Moore entitled
"The Inheritance Bible Study."

Based on Psalm 16:5-6 (ESV): "The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance."

The study includes 9 sessions of approximately 60 minutes each.
There is a Listening Guide available for note taking during each
of the nine sessions. They are $5 each and can be purchased
online through Living Proof.

If you are interested or want "Moore" information,
contact Linda Hartman.
What is "Stage 4"?
Stage 4 is a group of regular people who happen to have cancer or have been closely touched by cancer in their lives.

What does "Stage 4" do?
Stage 4 creates comfort bags which are given to people entering into chemotherapy and cancer treatment. The bags are created by people who have gone through cancer treatment themselves and have a unique prospective on how to make time in treatment a little easier.

Why does "Stage 4" do this?
We are guided by 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, where we are told about the God of all Comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.

How much do these bags cost?
The comfort bags are available free of charge for both men and women in cancer treatment.

How can You help with this ministry?
You would be most welcome if you would like to help with putting together comfort bags. Stage 4 meets in the Lower-Level Conference Room at St. Luke's Church on Thursday mornings at 9:30 AM and on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 PM.

For more information, to contribute, or if you have any questions,
contact us. We look forward to serving together.
St. Luke’s is coming alongside the outreach ministry of the church of Ela Kloda, a former member and friend of St. Luke’s, in Poland.
Her church has rented out two apartments for refugees, and they have committed to feeding 40+ families from the Ukraine. There are 85 children in these families of mothers (no fathers) and the cost is stretching their resources. It cost only $1.85 per day to feed one of the children.
We are asking our members to prayerfully support this outreach. Checks can be made out to St. Luke’s Church with Ukraine Outreach in the memo, or contact Fr. Dan for further information.

Dear St Luke's church family!

Thank you for your faithful support of me and my ministry Ray of Hope.

I appreciate your prayers, friendship, and financial support which makes it possible for me to do what God has called me to.

I will continue to serve refugees in Germany, Poland, and internally displaced people in Ukraine in any way I can, but I will be focusing on psychoeducation and trauma healing.

I will also continue to serve Russian speakers with coaching and coaching training with my Ukrainian mentor coach from Krakow, Poland. And I hope to serve alongside the member-care team providing support and trauma healing for our own staff of Youth with a Mission serving in Ukraine. I will also serve with our new YWAM center in Rzeszow, Poland.

Therefore for this next season, I will be relocating to Poland. I am praying and hoping to have enough monthly donations to rent my own place. This is key for me to stay healthy and rested, after 4 years of constant travel.

I am inviting you to pray for me and to sow into my ministry with a (monthly) donation - I need to raise an extra 1000 $ a month to make that possible. You can give as you normally would to St Luke's with Ray of Hope in the memo line. Thank you for your generosity!

I love to stay in touch with you!

Peace & Joy in Him,
